For those of you who had to get electrolysis "down there" before SRS, how many hours of electrolysis did you need to do?
I hear 2 passes because they turn the machine up down there

I've seen 2 passes quoted on some surgeons sites as well. I have done one round of laser and keeping things cleared with electrolysis now. Not much regrowth in this cycle, so im guessing 2 full clearings will be spot on for me as well

I went to Papillion center and have GCS scheduled for 11/15/16. I had 6 sessions. I never had much torso or pubic hair. Pre HRT I had a triangle pubic pattern. The sessions varied from 1.5 hours (1st session, decreasing each session) to 45 minutes ( last session). The original sessions were scheduled for 4 hours but I just did not have much hair. The 1st two sessions had a lot more blood spots and bruising then the rest and it decreased with each session. At the last session Lorie said to watch out for any hair that grows on the shaft and around the shaft about 0.5 inches. Any hair on the scrotum will be removed at the time of the operation. She said if I have any shaft hair or hair around the shaft to schedule another appointment. I said I did not want any hair to grow in there. She said I had very fine and sparce hair and it should not be a problem.
They can administer a local. Heather, who is leaving is less painful than Chrystal. Chrystal is faster. Heather is about 5 minutes and Chrystal is about 4 minutes. The local administration is very painful.
The electrolysis machine is turned way up.

I've been doing laser instead down there. It's quicker and is permanent if done right. Need a good tech using modern equipment to zap your nether regions. I have had 4 sessions in prep for SRS.
Good luck though. Definitely not a fun thing to do.
Hi Emily!... I did 1 laser clearing and 6 clearings by electrolysis of the areas Dr Bowers specifies... I did them in Phoenix where they can administer lidocaine to help with the pain... Still hurt but not as bad as one could imagine!!! ... I never had any post op hair issues but heard of quite a few horror stories from the electrolysists!!!
Cya!!!
Ashley :)
I don't recall but like someone else said it will take a good 5 or 6 clearings maybe more for each spot before the hairs die off for good. Hugs
Mariah
I had 6 Electrology clearings and 2 laser treatments. Both good shops. Yep, still had hair..wow.
If you follow the info on Dr Bowers' site, she recommends 5 cycles of electrolysis or 3 bouts of laser. Dr Bowers scrapes the hair follicles off (ow) but there is still a chance for hair to grow where you don't want it without the hair removal.
In my case I had 5 laser and there aren't any more hairs down there. Why did I over do it? Paranoia on having hair in my cooch.
It depends on the surgeon whether you need this. Chettawut recommends against since it makes the skin less flexible. I've had no internal hair since, so whatever he did worked.

Maybe those other Surgeons should do what Chett does. Seems a waste of time having to waste money on Electro down below when it is taken care of during Surgery. If I can help it I don't want to get electro or Laser downstairs, my hair grows half way up the shaft. :(
Chett sounds like a miracle for me.

Chet and Suporn use a non penile inversion method. But it's kinda a trade secret for them. So it's not something other peeps can do easily.
Is it just the shaft that needs hair removal? I have plenty of hair down in my genital area, but there is almost no hair on my shaft... just some near the base of the shaft. Maybe it won't be so bad for me if it's just the shaft that needs electrolysis?

I have been told a safe bet for any surgeon is the shaft, directly around the base, the top of the scrotum, and the perineum.
I have also done the entire scrotum just to be safe.
I believe some surgeons also recommend laser only due to increased risk of scarring that electrolysis presents. Any scar tissue has the possibility of rendering that skin unusable for surgery.

Well, As I am leaning towards Dr Chett for my Future GCS (2+ yrs) I do not want to jeopardize the area and get Electro or laser. I'm just starting Electro on my Face.

This is a good call. Chet will treat you really well - he's a great surgeon and also super affordable (relatively). It's a hard combination to pass up on "world class surgeon" and "comparatively inexpensive."

Hey Emily,
Dr Bowers instructions were around the base of the shaft and the middle 2/3 of the scrotum... I believe there is a diagram on her website but that's just hers... Other surgeons may have other requirements!
A :)
I have had around 23 hours over the course of 11 months.
Can't give you my post op answer but I had my first electrolysis session today and was told to expect 8-16 hours, however that was before working and tho we only had 1/2 hour to work she said I'm relatively easy to work on and also that my roots are all black and so I'll be a good candidate for combined laser+ electrolysis.
