Title: Different Pronouns sometimes daily?
Post by: Midnightstar on August 17, 2016, 12:32:11 AM
So if you're a individual who has had your pronouns occasionally fluctuate how have you helped others get used to the constant changing of pronouns?  And has it ever worked out for others what was there methods you used to help them remember day to day to change them up or ask you first instead of assume? Sometimes i like to be called they/their/them and with CIS friends it can be hard for them to remember and they are accepting but they find it is different and a challenge, and sometimes they get frustrated and tend to stop changing them which puts me into distress on a bad day and i don't know what to do about this anymore so over time i gave up but i am back to wanting it to be how it should be when i need it to be.

I cant personally relate to this sorry, but I saw something on tumblr where this person would wear a blue bracelet when they wanted their friends to use male pronouns, pink when they wanted female pronouns and white for they/them/their pronouns, and they said it helped their friends catch on quickly

I think it would help to just spell it out that you will correct them based on how you feel.  Because if they can not feel chastised when you tell them that your pronouns are actually whatever they are.  Then they could probably keep adjusting quickly.  That's not exactly what I do, but it's similar enough that I get it.  Here's what I do, I prefer different pronouns situationally, based on relationship with the speaker.  So It's she/her with close friends, He/him with my wife, and I genuinely don't care with strangers.  Does anyone else here do that?
