Hey group, I am a new member to Susans, and I need some help from all of you. I am 65 yrs old, have been on hormones fro 6 months now, see a gender therapist and endo regularly, and am planning on SRS in March/april 2017. I have found a doctor whom takes Medicare, Stanton C. Honig M.D. who is at Yale University in Connetticut. Has anyone seen him for their SRS? I am trying to find out if he is the real deal? Please Help. Thanks Samantha
Hi Samantha,
I have not heard of him. You might want to find out who he trained under.
I live a few minutes away from CT, I am a librarian with the research skills that implies, I'm very active in the online trans community... and I've never heard of him. That doesn't necessarily mean anything *bad,* but it does suggest that he's not exactly well-known. I would absolutely ask how many of these he's done and what the complication rate is, and attempt to verify both independently.
(Poking around, I found an article in the CT Post stating that the Yale program was in the works in June 2015 and that Honig had done "a handful" of GRS prior to joining. So he's probably very new at this, relatively speaking - the big names do anywhere from 50 to hundreds of surgeries a year.)
Hello
I see this is an older post but had you ever discover anything about dr.honig
If so I'd like to know I am in ct as well and see it's the only choice
Thanks
