That is the question!
I'm almost one month on T and things are going well. Pre-T I was already pretty furry everywhere with a lot of "peach fuzz" for sideburns and a baby moustache with some nice dark hairs. Since starting T, my sideburn fuzz has gotten lots longer and some baby dark hairs have grown in and my baby moustache has gotten a tad longer and darker. I've also noticed the peach fuzz under my chin has gotten longer.
I told myself I wasn't going to shave much or at all for a while after starting T, but now I'm wondering if shaving the peach/light fuzz will allow some darker hairs to grow in. I know, technically, shaving doesn't make new hair darker - usually - but I'm wondering if being on T makes this a little different.
Any opinions or suggestions on this? Should I shave or wait?
Thanks!
Shaving won't make any difference in how the hair grows but it will help you get the look you are after. An example might be your side hair isn't there yet but you can grow an attractive goatee, the go for the goatee until you have the hair to support another look. Most any beard has a stage where it doesn't look great but the idea is to minimize the the half way there look as much as possible.
i know when you start T and when you start seeing the changes like facial hair it is tempting to keep it because it allows you to maybe "pass" better but it just ends up looking weird. i shaved my facial hair until it started to actually fill in because it looks weird. i know a lot of guys i work with who have super patchy facial hair and it just looks weird.
I was shaving even before I started T since I had almost a goatee because of PCOS. I've noticed since T that it's growing faster, and I'm starting to get some more hair on the sides too.
If I was you I'd shave the peach fuzz. Long peach fuzz tends to make people either look like a woman with facial hair or a young teenage boy.
I only shaved a few times when I was I started T because I didn't exactly pass. After awhile I just stopped and only trimmed. much more facial hair now ;). I recommend getting yourself some beard oil. It's good for your skin and keeps your hairs soft. I think it also kind of helps it grow a bit too.
I've shaved my invisi-stache a couple of times and it hasn't come in darker. >:(
I may be suffering from that blond person thing, kind of a disappoint, my other body hair is darker than that.
My arm hair got longer but is invisible too. Hopefully it will at least get as dark as my leg hair.
As for beard, all I seem to have are random hairs on my chinny chin chin. No sign of sideburns. Cry.
I don't think shaving the peach fuzz will make much of a difference as to how you pass or how young you look. For me I know I already look like a 17yr old so it wouldn't make a difference if I got rid of my just about visible peach fuzz. Plus I don't want to stall growing facial hair by shaving it off. If it got to the stage of looking patchy and sparse then I probably will. I'm also blond so it's gonna be a loooong wait :(. Just do what gives you less dysphoria.
