Providing Transgender People Health Care Violates Religious Beliefs, New Lawsuit Claims

In addition to the five states, the plaintiffs include the Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA)and Franciscan Alliance, a Catholic hospital system. According to the complaint, these organizations object to providing services (or even referrals) for transition-related care or providing insurance that covers such care because it violates their religious beliefs.
. . .
The suit claims that even providing "psychiatric support" as part of a medical transition would violate its "best medical judgment and its religious beliefs." Even simply providing insurance coverage for such procedures would "constitute impermissible material cooperation with evil."

Christians strike again. They won't be happy until they manage to extirpate us all.
The quote I ran across below is their Creed.
QuoteWe first crush people to the earth, and then claim the right of trampling on them forever, because they are prostrate.
- Lydia Maria Francis Child
They won't rest until good ole conversion therapy, with electroconvulsive treatments and aversion conditioning, are legal, and involuntary commitment for transgender persons is the standard of care. Perhaps they can moisten the electrodes with holy water to make themselves feel good about this.
I live in a US state that should be a safe place for the near future, but I am keeping my options open.
exactly
I really do feel a lot of guilt about having associated and supported these folks over time; they've completely lost focus on smaller government, less intrusion into people's lives, and gone after this nativist witch hunting bs. Guilt is worse because it feels like my "revelation" is only because I'm personally in their cross-hairs now, and with something that could easily wreck my life. (That AA is *not* optional, full redline, I'm fine with paying retail, but I get the feeling they don't even want me to be able to do that.)
That said, this does again highlight how crippled the American health care reimbursement model is; people honestly do feel that the plan they select for their company is a direct reflection of their moral, religious, and ethical standards. They honestly feel they are doing great evil when they fund abortion or transition through such policies. That's a rational point of view; the solution is simply, national single payer. A NHS. But I don't think the US is likely to see another opportunity for that until the ACA's 80/20 rule fully works its magic which could be a couple decades. Maybe in a couple decades a 6 month shot of Lupron will cost $50 and consequently no one will even care anymore.... lol. (bend over, tada, you're fixed. here's a script for infinite estradots; call me in six months if you decide you don't like the change afterall...)

I know. I used to be a hyper-conservative Republican and Christian myself. Mostly I feel angry with myself for wasting half my life believing their lies, and especially for being so simple mindedly gullible. I am getting better at letting it go and controlling how that anger bleeds into some of my posts here.
The ONLY problem with single payer is that our politicians would be setting it up. Imagine the problems if they get to decide what will and won't be covered. At least now we have options.
I have US Government run health care and it is great. Maybe on a larger scale it wouldn't be as good?
It saved my wife's life a few years ago.
I Concur with you Deborah - No issues at all with the Government run system.
