Title: Acne
Post by: WorkingOnThomas on August 28, 2016, 04:23:10 PM
Well, it's been a little over a week and I'm already starting to get Acne. Yay!

Anyhow, how do ya'll deal with acne?

Plain soap and water?

Tea tree oil?

Clearasil?

Medication?

Just looking to find out what works. When I was a teenager, I went the soap and water route simply because we had no money for anything else and it didn't work.

Whoop, yay for 2nd puberty! I'm not on T yet, but when I had terrible acne as a teenager, apple cider vinegar really helped calm it down. I diluted normal apple cider vinegar with water and sweeped it over my face with a cotton wool pad and let it dry. Did this twice a day and it really helped stop the oil.

If you go to the doctors they can prescribe antibiotics for acne, which when used in combination with a hydrogen peroxide cream can be really effective.

Congrats on starting T though!

I use charcoal soap from Lush. It took some time to work but it's cleared up most of my acne.

Acne was the first change I noticed after starting T. Thankfully I didn't have horrible acne during my first puberty and so far this time it's sticking to the same T zone outbreaks I had before. I've been using pink grapefruit cleanser and an acne spot treatment stick from Walgreens. The stick gets rid of most of them within a day or two. I'm still trying to find the best combination of products though. My doctor said if it got real bad that she could prescribe medication for it. I've also heard that Yes To Tomatoes charcoal products really work, but I've had trouble finding them.

Look in the 'naturals' section of a walmart. I recently got the 'yes to for men' charcoal there.

Ayden recommended some Japanese products that I subsequently picked up and have had some success with. In the morning I use Gatsby Perfect Scrub, at night I use the Charcoal Facial Scrub. Both are made by the company Mandom. I also use Shiseido Sea Breeze body wash, which has helped with my body acne a lot. These were all available in the chain Asian grocery store near my house, but I also checked and they are on Amazon for around the same price.

I am probably 1000% less oily.

I see I shall have to look into these charcoal products. I've not seen them here in Belgium. While I am loathe to order things online, I'd do anything to forestall more unsightly facial eruptions.

I was going to say I'd actually welcome oilier skin as I had a dryness problem last year, but one day on T and I'm seeing a massive spot develop on my chin. Haha. The first in... well, ages.
