I recently moved to New Braunfels,Tx and the school I go to is really messed up.
Issues:
1.Gender Separation
So this school really shows there's one two genders. It has a not just a girls locker room but a girls only PE. The boys go to the weight room and do harder and the girls just do girly stretches and runs. This truly hurt me. (FTM Female To Male)
2. Classes picked
I came in 1 week late to school and they allowed me to pick my own schedule. I had to pick them fast too. So since I was hesitant to pick Building (Woodshop) or Skills for living. They put me in skills or living since it teaches you how to cook or sew. It was kinda mean even though I did wanted to do both..
3. Everyone Ignores you and give weird stares
I had to ask teachers to show me where to go. The only time a kid talked to me was when the teacher forced them to take me to a class.
Overall Review its pretty messed up.

Texas is antediluvian
Scanned, inspected and approved by the NSA
Damn, Peter, but that is messed up. It also sounds very familiar, and I was in high school when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
And people wondered why I never wanted to go to any high school reunions...
Your post bring back memories or more like the lack of them. In my schooling I can remember a few teacher and a hand full of classes but as far as school is concerned, there is a 16 year gap in my life. I to have never attended a reunion mostly because nobody would even remember that I was there. I was never a part of the in crowd. I hope you are creative enough to do better than I did.
I don't really know your plans for college or anything, but if you want some male role oriented, but accessible activities, you're sitting right on the heart of it in Texas. Gaudalupe is one of the few rivers in Texas that is clear water, navigable, and easily fishable by the public; even has shuttle services if you want to run it from Canyon Lake on down. There's a whole world of interesting stuff wrapped in fly fishing, and you're in the greatest spot in the state to take advantage of it.
It is a small Texas city, so its school sophistication level can't be expected to be particularly high. Get what little you can from it, graduate with a decent rank, and focus on what positive things you do have access to.
Granted, I can't say that my memory of Texas junior and high school was all that great either, so I may be jaded. I just recall being alternately ignored or smushed; till I started lifting weights, and then I was just ignored.
