Today I discussed with my parents for about the 4th time within 4 years about my desire to start HRT in order to transition into male. Except this time I didn't ask for their acceptance, I simply said this is something I need to do and will proceed with once I fly back for the new semester.
Surprisingly, unlike during the first three discussions, they were both extremely supportive and said they just wanted me to be happy above all else. It took them four years to come to terms that transitioning is inevitable for me and, as I was expecting the worse, I am extremely grateful and lucky to have reached this kind of conclusion with them.
For those who are afraid or nervous about coming out to your parents/guardians, please don't be discouraged by their initial reaction as I was four years ago. These things take some time to process, so please be patient and you may be surprised by an eventual change of heart. Sending good vibes to all you out there!
Yay! Good for you for being persistent!
Thank you! :)
It's a process. Glad it's working for you!
