My money situation isn't so great, and since I still present male, I ended up taking a job as a security guard. They had a dress code which states that males must have hair above the color and no ponytails allowed. So after a year, I had to get my hair cut. :(
So, now I'm looking into wigs, so I can attempt to pass since I'm in my third month of hormones. My face is in my avatar; here are three wigs I'm looking at. Any comments?
Note that I would be going with a wig color close to my natural hair.

99% of wigs suck out of the box... they must be fitted/trimmed.
Not to be a downer here, but all three of those look like the typical plastic almost-costume-like wigs for which Paula Young has made millions selling for decades. Their main market is senior citizens with bad eyesight. It always surprises me how many TG people pay the least attention (and money) to their hair. When you meet a new person, what's the first thing you tend to notice about them? It's usually their hair.
I suggest you start saving your security guard income toward the purchase of a quality wig. While there are many opinions on this, in my experience there's really no replacement for human hair and, probably, a lace front for a wig. And that's just the beginning to look good in a wig. You need one in a color that works well with your features. You need the cap fitted to your head and it needs to be trimmed to look right on your head. You won't get those things out of a box from Paula Young.
Even though they can be expensive, a trip to a good wig shop can save you a great deal of the money, time and grief over buying mail order wigs. Going that route it almost always takes several wig purchases to be even moderately satisfied-- unless you've got really low standards for yourself, I suppose. I say save up and go for quality.
For part time wear, for someone on a tight budget like Karlie Ann, one of these might last her for months while she saves for a nice midrange or high end piece. The Paula Young products aren't great, but they pass as well as some 'natural' hairstyles on ciswomen do with careful wear, and they will let someone on a budget present properly.
That's the big thing. Delaying for months the ability to present properly as ourselves to get something that a casual observer might not even really notice can cause considerable distress.
My main thing is to get to a point where I can grow my own hair out, if I can find something better than the security guard gig. The wig is just a stopgap until I can grow my own back again. But thanks, Lyric, and everyone! I think I might go with #3.
