So, on my 11 month HRT anniversary...I have my court date for legal name and gender change. I am excited enough to be giddy! Have my hearing at 8:30 in the morning, first on the docket. Kind of nervous, but not really sure why. This has been coming for decades and it seems like it has been out of reach...till now.
Also, Heather and I set our commitment ceremony date for the first weekend in June!
All sorts of big stuff happening and I am so happy to have things moving in a direction that I have only been able to see as distant events.
Hope everyone is having a most fantastic of days!
Exciting times! Hope you can sleep a bit tonight! Look forward to hearing how it goes for you. I know that when I had my documents in my hands, I cried! I could not do anything but sit and look at the papers I had in my hands.
Hugs,
Kelly
Simply fabulous :)
congrats
Lol, I am so excited! Getting ready. Will be likely to cry to a point the bailiff will have to carry me out...
Pinched myself to make sure I am actually awake and not dreaming. Consciousness, check! I will post an update when I get back home. For now, just going to get on with the day.
Congrats Kaitylynn!!!... That's a big milestone that just feels good!!!... I had a very grumpy judge until they got to me and I got a huge smile out of her!!!
Onward we go!!!
Ashley :)
Well, minor setback. Doctor did not provide the correct wording in her letter, so the judge did not grant my motion. I felt like I wanted to cry, right then and there. Totally awesome judge, he told me that everything else was in order and he would grant it as soon as he had the corrected letter. He even took a little time to hi-lite a sample copy so that the doctor would have a guide.
Figured my doctor would have gotten this right, but it is just a week. I am on for the 27th and that is just to hand the new letter (that is a copy of my friend's letter with my info in place) and the judge already said he would grant. So close! My friend, Melissa, rightly asked the only question, "40 years you have waited so far...what's another week?"
It was an amazing experience to see the process. There were 16 people changing their names at my session. Only a couple, trans...but it was no different for any and it is a quick process!
soon
Congrats thats a huge day for you. my advise to you is after all is said and done do something special for yourself its like a new birthday :)
Thanx Alice! Yes, a huge(r) day...bigger than I guess I thought till in the court room the first time around last week. My partner and I are going to go out for dinner and celebrate, for sure!
Really looking forward to hearing the judge declare "Granted".
Congratulations on your commitment ceremony with Heather :)
When I went for my name change there were 9 in total changing their name and 3 were trans. I was last and the court was empty except for the court people. After the motion was granted and paper signed the judge asked if he could ask me a few personal questions to better understand what it is like being trans.
Granted! I am now me.
YAYYYYY!!!!!! :)!!!!!!!! Congrats Kaitylynn!!!!
I have to change name again now due to recent marriage... Went to County Clerk Office today for cert copy of marriage license and heading to Social Security tomorrow... Oh Boy!!!! :)
Onward we go!!!
