Title: Trans and the british army
Post by: xman on September 23, 2016, 06:25:43 PM
[i moved topic here so i can get insight from more ppl]

Hey! so long story short I've been thinking of joining the British army reserves once i've finished my HND. By the end i'll either be 20 or 21 (19 i'll be 20 a few weeks), depending if i do the add on year. I'm FtM currently nearly a year on T but i haven't had any surgeries yet, but im hoping to get top surgery soon. I've tried to find some info on joining but i can't seem to find anything, everything i've found is trans woman coming out after joining.

So i was wondering if i can join, would i have to have certain surgeries done before joining, any info really.

Idk if this is relevent but i was thinking of doing a year in reserves and if i enjoy it then going to do full time and become a regular. As i dont have any skills in engineering or anything of the sort i was thinking of joining an infantry unit

Go to the local army recruitment office and explain. It's illegal for them to discriminate and not make reasonable accommodation, so just be upfront.

There's one in every town pretty much, so just pop along on your lunch hour or whatever.
