The Pride group at the local university is putting on a movie: 'Carol' (Cate Blanchett). My wife and I were planning to go, just because we like going out to movies, and as a chance to meet some of the people in the group. My therapist was telling me that I need to start going out as Kathy. So, (Duh!) it suddenly occurred to me that this is the perfect opportunity for Kathy to go out.
I'm not really ready. I don't have a wig yet, and my male hair is definitely not passable (too thin on top). I have no makeup skills, and my wife is the first to admit that she doesn't either, so I will be going sans makeup. And my 'moobs' are nothing to brag about.
But what the heck. It's a movie - the lights will be low. And the crowd is unlikely to be hostile: two of the organizers in the Pride group are trans.
I'll be wearing wine-red cords and a gray cardigan over a black T-shirt, and my birthday present necklace. I think it'll be fun. :)
Well, I went out dressed for the first time and the world didn't stop turning. :) I spoke to a couple of people and no one made me feel out of place. The only out of place feeling came from the fact that my wife and I were three times the age of anyone else there! Still, a good crowd, if you can call an audience of 12 a crowd.
Good film, too.
Brava!
Congratulations, I am glad it worked out well. Also, you noticed no one really cared that you expressed.
Kathy,
So happy for you. The first one is in the books. It gets easier from there. Hey, they may have been younger than you, but you are newer. lol Great news!
Moni
Good for you, Kathy. :eusa_clap:
