Title: how to start the name change process in ga
Post by: bootsradical on October 03, 2016, 10:08:25 PM
has anybody here legally changed their name in ga?  i've been putting it off because it just seems like a hassle, but i'm tired of dealing with my birth name and at this point i've recently had top surgery and it feels weird passing most of the time and still having an id with an unquestionably feminine name.
from what i've found, a petition is required - does anyone know if this is a prewritten thing, something you fill out at the courthouse?  how u doit

http://www.carrollcountyclerk.com/files/adult_name_change.pdf (http://www.carrollcountyclerk.com/files/adult_name_change.pdf)

This is from the Carroll County Clerk of the Court but the documents don't have county filled in.  If you can afford it, a family law attorney can help also.
