I'm starting to seriously consider FFS, as frankly I am sick of (all be it only occasionally) being recognised as trans. However I work a manual blue collar job, so spending €10'000+ just isn't possible for me. I can save maybe €500 a month, if I save only for FFS, so it will take me a long time to save enough whatever. So I am looking for an affordable surgeon, somewhere in europe (partly to save on travel expenses as I live in Germany, and partly for my own peace of mind).
I think mostly I need forehead recontouring and possibly jaw reshaping.
Consider getting a personal loan , I've always found you get what you pày for , thats serious surgery you are considering it will change you forever ..... you want to get done once and done right
I agree with markie. This isn't the same as buying a car... if you buy an inexpensive car and it breaks, you can always just buy a new one or get it fixed. But you only have one face and really only one good chance at getting the FFS done right.
An FFS surgeon's education, training, talent, and experience are all super important to achieving a good result, and all that does not come cheap. I don't think it's a good idea to cut corners here.
In Europe there are no cheap options, really. 3 names are well known, Norman van der Dussen, Facialteam and Dr van der Veen. But in all of these cases you wouold have to calculate with about 10000 EU for forehead-only FFS whicn would include some of the expenses for staying there. The bulk of the costs are hospital costs and they are not avoidable, the surgeries are less expensive, which is why it pays off to do them all in one run.
Cheaper options for you may be - getting german health insurance to cover for it somehow - usually they will try to deny this, but some peopple managed to get it paid for, usually then its not outside germany and there are few in Germany who do this, none of them have international reputation.
Alternatively, I can imagine cheaper options exist in eastern Europe or in Asia, but In those cases extra care has to be taken about the quality of the work!
