OK, so I'm in a bit of a situation here. I need to renew my driver's license by the end of November and I'm 7 months into HRT but not full-time yet since my wife prohibits me to present female at home.... I know.... don't ask.. :(
If I go the DMV in girl mode (see my profile picture) but keep my male name and gender marker, will I get into troubles?
Thanks and hugs
Jessica
That is one you should check out with the DMV. Some DMVs may still have some rules about disguises when you are having your picture taken and you might need a letter from your therapist stating that your appearance is a necessary part of your treatment. With the proper paperwork you shouldn't have any difficulty but requirements may vary from state to state.
You shouldn't have any problems. The last couple of states that tried being the appearance police lost in court.

One thing to note is you want it to match how you appear day to day because when your using that for certain things there going to want it to represent how you look. Just means that when you go full time you my need a new one. Hugs

I would certainly advise to have an ID that appears as you are on an everyday basis. Some states even have statutes to that effect. After South Carolina and West Virginia got into legal quagmires I have my doubts that any sane DMV manager would deny you a license based on wearing makeup or feminine clothes, but a cop who stops you or a clerk you IDs you might give you grief over it which doesn't seem worthwhile to me. When/if you change your name you can always get a new ID.
When I was still partime I made sure to look androgynous so that it could be seen as me no matter how I was dressed. That seemed to be a good compromise.
I am from PA. My drivers license was to expire a little more than 2 weeks before my name change court date (June 15). I went to the DMV and had my pic taken expressing. Their was no issue.
After I had my name changed I went back with the DMV form for name and gender change and had a license made with my new name and F gender. Since it was less than 1 month there was no cost. There was no issue.
Nope. As long as it looks like "you". Your natural hair is 50 state fine, wigs are a 50/50 on the mood of the counter clerk. Make up is fine if you don't go for "Dramatic". Natural makeup is usually fine. Just did mine in WA, but it's not very taboo there.
Thanks for all your feedback I think I will go for a rather androgynous look and wear just some light makeup. I hope this should cover me for both male and female mode especially during this awkward phase.
