Title: How long were you on hrt when you noticed your hips growing?

Like not the bone but the fat making them wider?

Within a few weeks... BUT  (lol I pun)...

before HRT I'd spent 35yrs powerlifting.  So the butt and hips were sizable, but with muscle right up to the skin with no significant fat.    As fat began to be stored there, sitting, laying down, got noticeably more comfortable, and I could feel the change in size when laying on my back or side.

I'm also eating at calorie balance, while scheduling meals and size of meals to provoke intervals of fat draw down and fat storage.  eg, exercise on an empty stomach, eat only after muscles have recovered and somewhat restocked glycogen.    Maximizes change in fat distribution without much change in weight.

I noticed my hip growth about 9 months in.. The only reason I noticed was I need a pair jeans and when I tried a pair on in my normal size, they did not fit past my hips... I had buy another size..

My female roommate, then remarked when she saw me in my new jeans, that I filled them out well. HRT gave me quite wide hips (I inherited my mothers wide hips)

I think it was around 3-4 months when I actually could see that  my hips were filling out and my butt getting rounder; I had noticed my pants fitting differently before that, though.

I'm a year and a half into HRT and still no hips! I can gain weight if I want to , but every time I do it goes straight to my belly. Whats the deal? I want my money back! Where is that complaint department?  ;)

ik what you mean. I can gain 10 lbs and it won't go directly to my hips. It evenly distributes to my stomach, breasts, hips, and butt so you can't even notice any difference. I hate it.

I didnt pay any attention to it because I was entirely focused on my breasts, but my endocrinologist took my measurements and my waist became much thinner while my hips became wider. In three months time,  my body did get a female shape.

Ah and I actually lost 4 kilos. Went on a diet when I started HRT, which seems to be working

Hips? I wish.
I just notice it in my thighs.
My butt still seems the same.

Interesting.  I don't SEE a change after almost 5 months, but around the 4 month point my skinny male DKNY jeans stopped fitting.  A little bit too snug.  On the other hand, my size 6 Buffalo skinny jeans are nice and snug in all the right places now.

So something has changed...

About a year into it. I started noticing that I was having trouble putting things in my pocket and I finally figured out it was because I was getting a butt LOL...... Squeezing my jeans up past my hips was also a new experience whereas before they just slid on.

I am about 4 years back on HRT and about 10 months ago I  was presenting at a conference  in one of my few  times still dressed as male, when I put the laser pointer down on the podium lecturn and it basically rolled off the lectern onto the stage.  I then bent down to pick it up. At that point  as I bent down the fabric of the trousers gave a ripping sound and literally split from waist band to crotch as it stretched across my now wider buttocks and hips. Luckily it was the end of my presentation and I sort of exited off stage and headed for the reception, got some safety pins and pin it up. I then headed back to my hotel, changed back into a business skirt an blouse and felt much better. It was at that stage I thought - wow I have gained rounded buttocks and hips.

Now I cannot get into any of my male trousers at all. Its not the waist, its the hips and buttocks that's the issue. So I now only wear women's skinny jeans, women's shorts women's pants for when on the rare occasions I need to  front up in pseudo male garb etc. Mind you now with  my breasts at a comfortable B heading for C Cup and with seemingly permanently erect nipples, it become almost impossible to present as male even if I need to.

Women's jeans etc all now fit perfectly. Mind you some have very tiny front pockets .

Yeah, whats with that, I got a couple pair, and they fit good; then I go to stick my hand in something that looks like it should be a pocket, and I'm

Have my purse, but still.

Women don't carry things in their pockets, don't you know.

You're lucky you got any pockets!

What's even better than tiny pockets?
Fake pockets.

I've transitioned decades ago and my hips and butt remained the same... Skin and bones lol... I guess your genes play a huge part on it too... If I gain weight it goes to my face, arms, tummy and thighs....

Genes sure do - it is the luck of the genetic draw.

Both of my grandmothers were short, curvy, stocky women and my body seems to be taking after them instead of my mom that was tall and stick thin.

I was lucky enough to have girly hips as I grew up, one of my features that makes me happier about who I am 😊

Oh, this is a fun one as I was the only one who could not really see it...

At about month 6 of HRT, my partner snapped a picture of my on a table getting my ankle tattoo and DAMN.  Everyone who has seen the photo (including me) is like, whoa!  The development is obvious.

A few weeks after that, my endo was following me down the hall after my visit and stopped me to tell me that I was developing a "Beyonce"!  That pretty much was the point at which I would say everyone realized my hips and butt are girlie.

I've got a couple pair of Womens jeans that fit great, some skinny and a couple low rise boot cut.  I've not started hormones yet so wondering what will happen there.  The one that said "curvy" didn't fit well so maybe that's what's in store.
Have noticed the tiny or non existent pockets.  It would be nice if the front pockets were just a tad bigger to hold my phone a little more secure. Not out far enough yet to carry a purse everywhere.

You will likely get redistribution once you start, but it can take a while.  I have found that I cannot wear a majority of jeans marketed to the male physique any longer.  They chafe and simply do not have any give in the fabric.  Another thing I have found is a particular cut, say Curvy Boot, in one brand and line can mean something very different in another brand under the same nomen.

My Lucky's are size 12 and fit perfectly around my butt and hips, where my Calvin Kleins are a 10 and are actually looser.  Both are boot cut, mid rise curvy styles.

There's a parlour game whereby you put a matchbox (or a lighter etc) on the floor, then kneel down with your hands behind your back and try to push the box with your nose, without using your hands and without losing your balance. Girls can do it, boys can't and it's purported to be because of the shape of one's buttocks.

Mmmmm,  I just tried that and found it really easy to do.  I wonder how much overall leanness and flexibility contribute beyond buttocks shape?

I have no trouble doing this, and I am pre-HRT.  I have a moderately cute butt for a body that is basically male at this point, but I doubt if that is a factor.

I tried on a pair of jeans that fit perfectly three months ago. I have not gained any weight in those three months but the butt area of my pants is growing much tighter than before. As to hips. I have always had like a shelf for hips. This came in handy with the kids as I carried the kids around ala woman style on my hips. Even when I was much heavier. I am still wearing my man jeans so there is no skosh more room. You can move it along somewhat by wearing a corset but it takes dedication to make that work.

I have heard woman can stand in front of a wall about four feet away, with feet spread. Think Frisk and search. Then this is where the nose comes in. Lean against the wall, using your nose as a landing spot. Place your hands behind your back and try to stand. Women can do it. Men cannot.

If you feel your nose is not up to it. You can use your forehead without much notice.

I can do it from two feet away.  Four feet seems kind of extreme.  That would be 80% of the height of many CIS women.

Ideally injury should be avoided.

I should have mentioned the matchbox is placed in a special manner.

After kneeling, you're supposed to bring your arms together with your hands in a prayer position, touch your elbows to your knees and bend forwards until your arms are resting on the floor. Then someone else places the matchbox in front of you, where the tips of your fingers can just touch it.

Then you straighten up, bring your hands behind your back and try to tip the matchbox over.

Sorry I didn't explain all that before - I didn't realise people would actually try it. Also, it's damn hard describing the correct position :)

If you do it that way, it's not that easy and I've definitely watched plenty of guys failing hilariously and planting their nose in the floor (but then again, alcohol was involved).

Ok, that's a nice one. Unfortunately I can't try it as the floor in my room is leaning inside, towards the wall and quite a bit too.

Also, I have a fat head. I'm not using my poor nose to prop it up. No way XP

I LOVE my Daisy's!  I walk around in them out all the time.  Enjoy showing off my legs and figure during the summer.  I swim the channels and walk my dock in my bikini, figure the shorts are fine.  My thighs have filled out since my friend snapped the picture and the shorts actually fit better now.

I thought I had drawn the line there, but then I found myself out on town in my old Dolfin's...and I realize I have no shame :D  My partner asked me if I was comfortable wearing them in as they were drawing attention from men who were checking me out.  Not sure I actually liked that, whether or not it is 'natural'.

Here is a picture when the hips started to become obvious to Heather and I both.  She snapped this shot on a warm summer eve.  She was trying to tell me what she saw, but the words were not working.

About 6 months in and things were starting to spread.  Now, at over a year I love my hips and butt.  It is a longish process.  Patience...it will come about in its own time.

Honestly I don't remember. It took me a few years to really start blending in with society at large really well. I've lost over 20lb this year and the more weight I lose the more I notice my hips ;)
