Will extending time between Estradiol Valerate shots from 7 days to 9 days have much of an effect on mood and speed of transition? I've heard people who were on 14 day schedule complain about PMS symptoms in the middle of week two. I'm hoping the moodiness won't start after only 9 days.
Besides if I inject less often, maybe, just maybe the E.V. supply issue will be resolved by the time I run out... 90 days from now.
Contraception. 1980 Apr;21(4):415-24.QuoteThe average duration of elevated estrogen levels was shortest in the benzoate group (4-5 days) followed by the valerate (7-8 days) and cypionate (approximately 11 days). In none of the subjects studied were elevated estradiol and/or estrone levels encountered 2 weeks after the injection of the various esters.
From two sources:
Maturitas. 1982 Dec;4(4):315-24.QuoteBecause of the delayed release of the steroid ester from the intramuscular depot referred to earlier the blood level does not reach its maximum for 3-5 days, after which it falls slowly, with a half-life of 4-5 days, to the
17B-oestradiol concentrations measured before the treatment
.
Horm Res. 1985;21(3):145-54.Half-life confirmed to be 4-5 days as well.
I personally inject every 5 days but most women do well every 7, even up to 10 days, occasionally.
If it's an issue, see if your Endo will prescribe Estradiol Cypionate. It would meet your guidelines for injection intervals.
I suppose everybody's different, but I was injecting every 14 days and it took a while to realize that I was an a$$ by about day 11-12. On the advice of a physician I reduced the period to 12 days and have been very happy.
So - increasing time between injections can create moodiness, but it also may be temporary until your body adjusts.
Was on every 7 days for a while, then moved down to every 5 days. Now and for a while now it's every 4 days. Next blood check is in 2 months as compared to every 5/6 injections so I guess my levels are more consistent now. The nurse from my endo's office let me know that they have a compounding pharmacy should I run into an issue getting delestrogen next time I need to refill.
