Hey Everyone,
So my question has two parts and is a little long so bare with me if you can!
1) Did anyone here ever sort of figure out they wanted SRS during HRT & not before? I was unsure before hormones and now that I've been on them for a while and my entire sexual response has changed, I just feel so sure that I need SRS, like I won't be able to really be sexual with someone (in a way that feels natural for me) until I have it. So yah, just thought i'd share in case anyone's had that experience?
2) I have narrowed down my options for surgeons to 4 (in order of preference)
1) Dr. Suporn, 2) Dr. Brassard 3) Dr. Marci Bowers 4) Dr. Toby Meltzer
I know that all of these doctors are great but I was wondering if anyone had a preference or advice on how to pick the right one (should I have a phone consult with each of them?).
I really really prefer suporn's technique despite the extra pain (i figure I'm only doing this once, better get it right)
I mean is it true that there are no scars in his? ahh amazing (not to mention more depth, sensitivity)
however I'm worried about any potential risks with his technique (aesthetic weirdness or general problems), so if any Suporn girls want to comment on the experience or others have opinions that would be really helpful!
In terms of the others, the main things I thought about with each that determined preference was 1)electrolysis (Brassard and Suporn don't need it), 2) one stage approach (all except Meltzer who is 2 stage)
HOWEVER, i just read in a medical journal that a two stage approach is better?/i'm super nervous about hair growing inside the new vagina.
I KNOW THAT WAS WAY 2 MUCH lol, but if anyone has any advice or experience/medical opinion that'd be so helpful!
tons of luv

It also happens occasionally with Dr Suporn, but I've heard its easy to get rid of in his case. There's a lot of info on Suporn in this pdf, including the vaginal hair.

I like Suporn and have read a lot about him. The main problem women get is a difficult recovery. You don't hear much else with any frequency. There's a post on this site titled Suporn's Failures you might want to look at, but that's the only post like it I know of.
You can find results photo's of all those surgeons if you search.
1. Yes. I'm actually there now. I wasn't sure prior to HRT bc I was skeptical about the results I would see and whether I'd ever be able to afford the surgeries I'm wanting. Sex has become more and more dysphoric.. it's really always been an issue, so maybe it's just that I'm noticing it more now.
2. I can't help you here. I was between McGinn and Brassard, but dropped McGinn for the sake of just settling on one. What's gained through Suporn? I'm not familiar with his technique.
As far as 1 stage vs 2, I can add to that. Dr McGinn wrote a very helpful article on it. She said it should really be based on what the situation calls for, but shouldn't be decided until after the first surgery. Two stage was popular/strongly recommended prior to around 2000, but around that time surgeons started moving to one stage. She said, it really comes down to the individual though: having optimal skin quality, healing, and body fat distribution. She also said, "others, particularly those who have lost weight or have suffered the effects of gravity, find that labiaplasty is the final touch they were looking for."
I'm not 100% settled on Brassard. I'm working on my letters atm, so any additional info on Suporn would be very much appreciated (:

Yes, I was definitely unsure until I started seeing the rest of my body become more and more female... which made the remainder more and more jarring, until I couldn't wait to get rid of it.
I went to Brassard, and I would be happy to answer any questions you have (I do not have any visible scars anymore, and there's no hair inside the vagina, but both depend in part on luck and/or your body, regardless of the surgeon). I also had a one-stage approach - Brassard does offer revisions, but I haven't gone back - and even doctors can't tell.
