Title: Estradiol Patch Placement
Post by: LauraE on November 23, 2016, 09:05:16 PM
I've been on a starter dose of estradiol patches for a few weeks now, and up to this point, i've been placing them on my upper thigh, because that area is fairly smooth. However, the instructions in the box state that the best places are on the lower abdomen (below the waist on the right or left sides) or on the upper buttock (also right or left side).

Does it really matter? Does the estradiol absorb better on the abdomen or buttock than on the thighs?

There have been some studies that showed a higher absorption rate, higher serum levels with the patch on the buttocks than on the lower abdomen.

I just follow the instructions and cycle through six sites on the lower abdomen.  Yeah, no sense of adventure...
