Hello, first of all i would like to assure you that i really did a lot of search about T-Voice Change before i ask you this. I examined all of the options before i write this question like vocal lessons etc.
I am 20 and female, having a decent mezzo-soprano range but i want a lower, darker, rougher voice. Making my vocal range 3-4 notes lower turning myself into a contralto. Lowering my voice without losing it's feminine qualities. It is really not likely to happen with vocal lessons/theraphy. I know that i can't pick any effects as they will be more (more hair, clitoral growth, mood changes etc.) and the docs won't give me T just for that reason but this is not the case. What i am really curious about is that from what i've read people usually say their voices getting gradually deeper/lower (i assume still in feminine range) then their throats start to itch, voice crack then boom their voices become male sounding so if i start T on a really low dose (not so low it won't turn to E) making my voice deeper gradually then stop before it starts getting into male range, is it possible?
I don't know if this is the right place to ask since i don't want a transition but i thought this is the only place i can get answers.
Not a good idea at all. Upto 3 months on T your voice will deepen but still be in the female range (more than that and it'll start being in the male range) but you'll also have irreversible clit growth. Plus most likely gender dysphoria because of the T; which can lead to serious mental illnesses. Plus the voice deepening isn't reversible even when you stop taking it.
Sorry but no reputable doctor will prescribe T just because you want a better singing voice.
Sounds like an awful idea.
Hi and welcome to Susan's. I agree it isn't a good idea. It could really turn out bad for you and not go where you want it to. It's not an exact science as to how much T will or won't change a voice. I look forward to seeing you around the forums. Good luck and Hugs. To help guide you around the site and let you know of the rules and far. Here are some links to help you out. Thanks

Bad idea! you'll basically turn yourself into an MTF transgender, as a woman in a masculinized body. With all of the ensuing dysphoria, misgendering, unwanted physical characteristics, messing up your reproductive cycle and chance of infertility, beard growth and whatnot.
Well, from the last 30 years of having lived that way I can tell you: it's NOT fun. To be more precise: It's a hell you'll want to avoid at all costs. Leave the hormones alone, please. They'll only do you harm.
Welcome to Susan's Place. We had a member who thought he could select the desired changes and started T. One thing that wasn't wanted was a low voice and the plan was to stop before the voice went to low. The problem was the voice then broke leaving two options. One was to continue living with a voice that broke like a teenagers or continue T until the voice stabilize.
The other issue is unfortunately I came by a bunch of T naturally and my former voice was bass but pretty well useless for singing. It took both therapy and voice surgery to undo the years of damage cause by T.
If you are FTM, then T is a consideration but other than that, your voice may naturally lower as you age but I don't recommend you risk T.
Thank you all for your answers, i am really grateful and thanks for the warnings too.
Elis said that up to 3 months your voice still will be in female range but there will be other changes too, from what i read voice deepening is one of the changes that occur after you get started, i thought i can make my voice a bit deeper without getting facial hair, clit growth etc. I can take those risks actually.
What made me think was what Dena said, from what i've learned i thought your throat will itch and then start to crack so i thought there will be a signal to tell me where to stop to taking T. Isn't it like that?
My last question is (to be sure) can you get noticable deepening before voice drop or is it instant like overnight i think it should be gradual (at least before the drop) but in the videos that i watched vocal changes of ftm's i dont see a gradual change it's like instant change from f to m voice no between, is it like soprano (boom) ---> tenor\baritone | soprano--->mezzo--->alto--->etc.
From my experience upto 3 months was gradual and then longer than that it started stabilising and become less croaky and less up and down. There was no warning when my voice would drop. I'd just wake up and it'd sound slightly deeper. Not sure how good your singing will be with a croaky voice.
As for clit growth it happens within a month or even less. And it'll look like a penis. Plus you can only get rid of beard shadow with painful and expensive electrolysis sessions. Is that a risk you really want; especially as it's irreversible? Trust me dysphoria is one of the worst experiences you can go through.
