Title: FTM | Wanna ask about height growth and some other stuff.
Post by: Recoilist on December 01, 2016, 02:00:37 PM
Hi everyone!

Q 1: So I have been worried the last weeks about my growth (I'm 14 and 166cm/5'4) and I don't know if I'm tall enough or if I'm going to get taller (probably I will but wanna ask about that soon). BTW my birthday was in June 22 just so you know when I became 14.)

Now, my mom is 168cm/5'6 (or around somewhere there even though I look sometimes the same height as her when I stand straight with my shoes that aren't that thick (skateboard shoes) and my dad (my mom says he is 185cm/6' but he seems like 190cm/6'2 last time I saw him. From these heights (168cm/5'6 and around 190cm/6'2 can you people draw any conclusion?) My cousins and other people in my family are pretty tall.

BTW I had my first disgusting period in like the end of February this year.

Q 2: I made some research and heard that Zinc will boost your testosterone (which it actually did) and I'm wondering if it will make my long bone plates seal later and will this then make me have more time to grow?

The changes that took place after taking Zinc: More body hair (which is noticed BTW), no periods (except the time I forget the Zinc at a place and had to wait in two weeks to get them back. Yes, its true, no periods in two months since I started it after getting them back, higher-(you know)-drive, haven't noticed that much acne (had more before but it usually comes when I touch my face with dirty hands), not that much happening with my adams apple but it does look like I have one but small like some other cisguys.

I don't know when I'm going to go on T because I haven't said that I am FTM trans to anyone at all (even though I seem pretty much like a boy and everyone who doesn't know me thinks that I am one as long as no one has told them before).

Q 1: Will I grow taller?

Q 2: Will the higher Testosterone make my long bones seal later than regular and let me grow a bit more?

Sorry if its hard to understand, I'm new to this forum. I tried to do it as good as possible. Hope you understand!  :)

Welcome to Susan's Place. Determining your height without a full doctors examination would mostly be guess work. There is one thing that you should consider. At your age estrogen blockers are used to suppress your estrogen production so your bones will continue to grow. Without the blockers, you will end up at your natural feminine height instead of several inches taller. In addition, the blockers will stop breast growth and prevent hip growth. To receive this type of treatment, you will need to come out to your parents and get a professional evaluation. Over the counter treatment will make little or no change in your natural development.

Alright! Thanks for your help. Well, I'll have to come out at one point. And, yeah, its mostly guessing.

I will try to come out ASAP.

For coming out it's best to write an email to get your thoughts in order and to include helpful links. Be ready for having to keep reminding your parents your trans and having to constantly stick up for yourself; but it's worth it in the end; good luck :).

Yeah, its worth it. I am not adult yet but I don't like that they can control if I can go on T or not but I will see what I can doo.

Depending on where you live, it may not be possible for you to go on T until you reach the age of 18. The blockers will prevent sexual development and delay puberty so you don't need to undo years of development. The blockers may also reduce any dysphoria that you feel.
