Title: Buying a bathing suit
Post by: Denise on December 01, 2016, 11:01:11 PM
Heading to Florida for the week and I'm thinking I want to hang out at the pool in a suit.  But with the HRT in full force I'm not sure i can comfortably go without a top on.  With that in mind, how did everyone, who has done so, go about picking a suit that hides , um , unnatural girl parts?

I would love a bikini but at 55yo, a one piece would be more appropriate.

Please note that I don't really pass as female.  Maybe I'm a few months ahead of myself.

Opinions?

I had asked a similar question myself, because I wound this suit on Wish.com.

I thought it was super cute and they had my favorite color, purple.

That suit is super cute but reality hits that many women don't look like the models they use to show those suits off. Ugg :( Purple is also my favorite color. :D

Dee Dee I have been looking at suits with a skit or short bottom over a one piece. For me it's still way too early but doesn't hurt to look does it?  ;) the bottom can help cover anything that doesn't tuck just right. How I wish that wasn't an issue, right?

Where did you find these?  Any specific store (Now that I type this probably Amazon?)

[EDIT] - wow - a world I didn't know.  Search Amazon for "one piece swimsuit skirted" Only a handful of two piece

I found it on Wish.com.

There is also a skirted version too.

What about the tankini style?  It is essentially a 2-piece with the coverage of a 1-piece tank style.  I will be much more convient when going to the bathroom.  I believe that they come in both pantie and skirt styles.

If you have breasts you would like to feature, I would wear a bikini with a lower wrap. So, you can show off your breasts but the lower wrap covers your "unnatural" parts. It really depends on your body type. Best wishes, I live in Florida and I love to show off my little boobies.  :icon_chick:

Something like this:

I played around with swim dresses and bathing suits with skirts for a while, but I found them all annoying.

Now I just wear my favourite one piece with some swim shorts over the top. It doesn't give you the bigger-hip look you get with a skirt, but it's much more practical to swim in.

There are plenty of colourful women's swim shorts you can buy. You can usually pair them with a matching bikini top if you feel like showing off your mid-section...

I would recommend a swimsuit with a skirt of some kind to cover the parts below. If your boobs haven't developed enough or are not that big, I would recommend something with a bit of padding. Swimsuits, depending on the type, can compress a bit which can make your boobs look smaller. You don't have the comfort of a bra, but that's my suggestion ^_^

I love bikinis. And I have not been able to pass for some years now. But I am not out to impress anyone, so I dress to please myself.

Perhaps just a bikini top and girly boardshorts?

I think, as mentioned earlier, a tankini style is best. Speaking for my bod, I'm shaped like a pencil...almost no hips, and hormones after 9 years got me to a 36B. I tried on one piece a couple years ago, and just didn't like how I looked. That was when I was pre op.

Now postop 2 years...I still don't think bathing suits are for me...which means I'll likely not go where it's really hot. I get cranky when it's hot lol

Bikini top under a shirt will hide THO pretty well.  If the shirt is black, it will hide the bikini if you are so inclined.

I found a tankini top and a 'skirted' bottom.  If I didn't know better (which I don't 😋) I would say that these suits were made for transwomen.  Lots of colors, but you can't beat basic black!

I spent many hours by the pool.
