Title: How many of us have changed our names?
Post by: Wild-Eyed on December 05, 2016, 09:31:14 AM
Just wondering. As, recently, I had my name legally changed, how many of us have had legal name changes? I've been mistaken for MtF a few times since changing mine, oddly.

Mariah has been my legal name since almost the beginning of transition. My last name is all that is left and that will be changing due to my upcoming marriage in the near future. Hugs

Changed mine; mine was previously very obviously female exclusively and very feminine. I wanted something more masculine and androgynous to feel comfortable.

But strange you'd be considered mtf. Maybe you just look more on the masculine side a bit?

I haven't changed mine officialy yet, but I have just changed the gender of my main name and added Rachel for my great granny, the name I would have had I been fortune enough to have just been born female.
I would have just gone by the name of Rachel (mums pic) but I fear my dad will completly disown me so I kept my first name of Christopher (dads pic) and just tweaked it to Christine. Cause I wana keep something of him if I am rejected :(

According to a Spanish act enacted in 2007, you have to wait for two years after you are diagnosed as a transgender. I don't have the diagnosis yet so I'm looking at 2019 earliest.

I may be diagnosed soon by gendergp.co.uk and I'll try to formally translate the document (if any, but I assume I'll get something) to see if it's enough to kickstart the countdown.

I changed my first and middle name in June. I think I put the paper work into the County in March.

A long long time ago, I ditched my first, middle, and last name, as well as gender ... all legally.

Changed mine on the Friday before I transitioned on the following Monday. Not many girls are called Jimmy!

Waiting is.

Changed my credit card and just got my new official driver's license in the mail today with my new name and gender marker changed to female.
I really does make the social aspect of transition a lot easier.

It was one of the first things I did in transition, and this seems to surprise people. They keep asking me for my legal name, and I have to explain that it is my legal name and has been for years. It's been on all my paperwork for years - I literally have no paperwork with my birth name.  More recently I had my gendered paperwork legally changed to "X" or "unspecified" which was very tricky legally (loophole) but awesome. One more step.

How did you do that? I'm interested in this loophole.

Had my name/gender marker changed for every legal agency at 5 months, a bit over 6.5 now and yet to go out in public dressed as female, no mams in public from strangers in guy close and every single person I've showed my new ID to whether its bill companys, laser tech etc.. everyone has acted as if its the most natural thing in the world and i'm actually quite shocked at how easy the entire thing has been so far. Though probably in January I'll probably get a more feminine haircut and actually start dressing the part in public too, my face is ambiguous enough that I'm sure the only thing holding the "mams" up is my obvious male clothes and raggy long hair thats not exactly feminine.

My assigned name was Peter, but I'm working on changing mine to Harnett. I was and am, deeply inspired by Steven Universe. :)
