Title: Laser - Visual Effect During Treatment?
Post by: AshleyC on December 06, 2016, 01:31:11 PM
When you get laser, does it leave any marks or anything? I'm thinking lasering my face and body hair is a good first step (or one of the first) in my transition, but wondering if I will have to explain marks on my face while I'm still undergoing the process.

If there are, what are they and how long do they last?

The marks...like little squiggles...mine are the color of dried blood and are usually gone within about a week. Laser seems to be really good for my skin evening out the tone a bit and smoothing the texture a little.

I have never had anyone ask me about it because it is very hard to see unless you are up close. I normally only have a couple a of minor area's some of which will disappear in a few days. Electrolysis is far more difficult to hide due to the scabs and zapped follicles with lye in them(look like zits)

Hope that helps...I also use aloe vera out of the fridge straight after a session of laser

Liz

When I first read the post subject I thought you might be referring to the visual blast of lightening we can "see"  even with our eyes closed and shields placed over our eyelids.  What a blast! ;)

Let me also give you a caution.  I had seven sessions with laser and told them to "crank it up, i want them really zapped."  I must also admit I did not always wear sun block when outdoors after tx.  Some may have a bit of temporary redness in the treatment area.  I developed several small round areas, matching the laser beam, of hyper-pigmentation.  Looks a bit like a large freckle and only a bit faded after treatment.  It is a known complication and I am considering an electrologist appointment next time.

It pays to be careful with our epidermis.  Moisturize and wear sun block, she suggests belatedly:D

This makes me very happy! Sounds like it should be pretty easy to get this done under the radar.

I've had similar results with redness. My laser technician told me the skin is getting a mild sunburn. Exactly what it looks and feels like.

I keep some uv protective facial cream handy for the few days after. Easily covered up with makeup if needed.
