It was suggested I make this a separate topic

Thank you Stephanie,

The biggest survey of transgender people in the US is just now out and Stephanie has posted a segment tabulating some deeply troubling and concerning responses.  We almost need a trigger warning here, seriously.

There are volumes more to read but we simply must inform ourselves and then take action, in some positive ways, to address these unacceptable realities.   Enough pain and suffering already, let's turn this around.

We can and do make a difference in our own lives and that of our communities.

I took this survey. Yeah, it was really long.  So glad that there's a concerted effort to find out how bad it can get out there.  An instrument like this can really help to document the troubles of this path.

I think the most surprising result I saw was the number of women who didn't want voice therapy.

What I found most disappointing is that some categories have a completely different meaning based on whether you're pre-transition or not transitioning, in the midst of transition, or post-transition.  Especially the questions on whether you're "out" or not, be it in relationships or at work.  In general, the instrument did not seem interested in exploring what post-transition life is really like and how it differs from the other stages.  However, considering that most problems we face will occur before or in the midst of transition, I can understand.
