Hey all. My name's Shannon or Shann as most of my friends refer to me as. I'm 24 years old, soon to be 25, MTF transwoman from NY USA. I have been transitioning since I was around 19 years old and it has been tougher than I expected it to be. I came out to my parents right before I turned 20 and although they don't accept it at all they haven't kicked me out and have been slowly trying to adjust (so yay for that). My extended family seems to be more accepting with a few exceptions to the older members but I didn't really expect the support I got. Especially from my 3 brothers.
I always questioned my gender but was so confused about the whole thing since I dated women exclusively. With the help of some supportive friends and ex's I got to this point in my life. For the most part things are going well with my transition. I have been on HRT for the last 2 years and 9 months as of today. I have a decent job of managing a movie theatre and a terribly boring job of supervising a small location for a major retail company. I have no idea what I am doing with my life in the long term. For now I am just looking at the present. At the moment I am on the fence about SRS mostly because of the money. Although I plan to have implants done possible in the fall of next year if I can come up with the remainining money (not far away!). So lets hope!

Who knows what the future will bring, I know financially everything can be pretty rough. Personally I can't possibly be more glad that I'm a trans woman in Ontario, Canada and OHIP covers pretty much everything, with the exception of FFS and VFS if one chooses that route. (Perhaps food for thought?)
