I guess this kind of goes along the lines of a coming out topic.
I am four days post-op and only very few people know about it to keep it from family arguments and what not. It didn't occur to me until now what other may say (especailly being around the holidays) when they notice that I look differnt or odd that there is nothing there, that my chest is flat.
Has anyone had family or anyone comment or ask about it?
You'd be surprised how much people can be oblivious to. Both of my parents knew I was large chested from having to buy me bras forever, but never noticed or commented when I started binding, which I did for roughly eight years.
Top surgery is a bit different. Especially at just 4 days post-op. I'd be more concerned with hiding the fact that you've just had surgery than what kind of surgery you had. I was good to go, back to wearing normal clothes at a week post-op, but that's not the case for most people. Christmas and Hanukkah both start in less than ten days. New Years is a little over 2 weeks away. You're still going to be pretty fresh for all of that. I'd worry about feeling up to holiday festivities. I hope if you have drains they're removed by then.
I'm fairly open about what kind of work I've had done when people ask. But people really only ask when my shirt is off.
Although I've not had top surgery, I had similar experiences to FTMax in regard to family nor friends noticing any change when I started to bind. I went from a 36 G cup to a considerably flatter chest, and not one person commented on/asked me about it.
