I just had one of these for the first time. Never had one before.
Pretty sure it was migraine with aura, I Googled people's drawings of the aura and found identical-looking things to the visual distortions I was seeing on the right hand side. Then about 10 mins later I got the migraine.
Did anybody experience these after starting T? I wonder if it has something to do with it, blood pressure maybe...
I have never had this before or any sudden onset migraine. Any new things happening I am wary might be because of the T.
If this is new, you should discuss it with your doctor. I have always had migraines without the aura and you can avoid most of them if you get enough sleep, watch caffiene eat regularly, avoid stress and avoid things like loud noise and flashing lights. There may be more things to avoid such as some foods and drugs but the above for me can sometimes be the trigger for one. The best solution I have found is sleeping one off if I have the time but there may be medications that work as well.
I'll definitely mention it to her when I see her, but that won't be for some weeks yet.
I'm a bit freaked out; I was getting less headaches after quitting any estrogen sups, now I seem to be getting a completely different manner of migraine and the visual impairment is a first.
I can't think what else may have caused the change. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary... except that I haven't eaten much in a few days. But that's not unusual for me either.
You might be feeling the effect of the lack of food. Now you are running on T, you will find you need more food to keep the fires burning and missing meals may affect you more. I found the reverse when T was eliminated. You don't have to eat huge meals but you should consider three well spaced comfortable meals or large snacks. Missing a couple of meals for me is flirting with a nasty head ache.
I get painless migranes, aura only. I found that I get them more frequently right after my dose than they calm down the second half. Drf talk to your doc, if you do not have a close appt call and leave a message. It may settle out after your levels stabalize but worth a call as it is a new issue
I used to get really frequent migraines that started turning into cluster headaches. My doctor told me it was because of spikes in my hormone levels, mostly estrogen. I still get them but being on T has helped them not be nearly as frequent. I used to get migraine/cluster headache attacks a few times a month but now they're gradually lessening to once every month if that. You might be getting them suddenly after starting T because your hormone levels are being thrown off until everything evens out. I would definitely still tell your doctor though.
E definitely causes migraines.
Whenever I stopped taking it, by the 3 day mark I'd have the worst migraine imaginable, one that continued through sleep and through just about any painkiller I could get my hands on. It only goes away when you either add more E to counter withdrawal, or rehab yourself off it long term. E dependence is like opiate addiction apparently, when you stop taking it, it hurts.
I still notice a headache sometimes, but nowhere near as bad as they ever were on the dreaded E. I would say after lowering my levels of everything and starting T almost all aches and pains have gone. But things have definitely changed, in the brain. Dreams and sleep feels different, sexual stuff feels different, so I suppose I shouldn't be shocked if headaches have changed too.
On the other hand, I used to get migraines (and seasonal depression) when I ran on T, but don't any longer. Perhaps, rather than one or the other being at fault, it's running on the wrong hormone that does it?
What do your T levels look like? What does your blood pressure look like? What does your red blood cell/hemoglobin look like?
If your RBC is high, this could lead to high blood pressure, which could lead to vision impairing migraines.
T levels were at the start of the male range for now, I don't have the print-out to hand but I remember looking at it in the surgery, RBC post-T was "no change from normal" (i.e. pre-T levels), they seemed to think it was fine. Not sure about BP, it had increased about 2 months before I started T, but water retention has gone and I'm losing weight so I assume those things are not exacerbating it right now.
I'm due more blood work in a month.
