Title: What does it feel like to have breasts?
Post by: Christine_Hart on December 28, 2016, 07:06:00 AM
Odd question but curious to know what it feels like to suddenly go from being flat chested to having breasts through taking hormones? I asked one girl and her response was 'they get in the way'  Thinking more about physical feeling rather than emotional impact.

Well, it's not sudden or dramatic. In my case over six months I've gone from "moobs" to a 34B,  not terribly large, but noticeable (barely) under tight clothing.

There's been soreness, and  I can't sleep on my stomach any more. I have to be much more careful picking up large objects. In spite of all that, it feels right. I feel correct somehow, like this is how I am supposed to be.

It feels right.

Hi Christine,
For me the nipples initially became very sore and sensitive. Then, as they started to grow and get softer they bounced when you walked fast, up and down stairs or ran. Now when stimulated they feel like they are directly connected with my genitals. It's strange when you are sleeping lying on your side and you wake up and see cleavage. They lose nearly all hair as well thank goodness.

I always dreamt about having breasts pre HRT and now that I have them I mostly don't even think about them until I run into something...lol

As Michelle said, it just feels right - like there was always something missing and I didn't know what

Sounds like my experience except the hairs are still there. But not that much as it used to be, after one year HRT.

Have you waxed or did they go away on their own?

Once on HRT -
Physically
11 days - nipples sensitive
3 weeks - definite lump
almost 2 months -
* I notice they bounce going down stairs.
* I'm not wearing a bra yet, but that day is approaching.
* The nipples are still sore.
* I see them without a shirt on.  On one else would with clothes on.

Mentally
A dream come true
I rarely (2-3 times per day) think about them, usually when I get a chill.
Calming and terrifying at the same time (mostly calming)
Did I mention - they are a dream come true?
While at the gym (lots to compare) I wonder what the final shape/size/... will be where for 50 years I would just cry inside about not having them.  That was the biggest trigger for my dysphoria and IT'S GONE!

P.S.
Every time I hear about an FtM having top surgery I weep inside.  I understand it, but I still weep a little.  (I know I'm not the only one on this!)

to Wolf Night; a tissue exchange bank seems so logical eh?

For someone who felt i really was a girl all my life it is simply a sensuous dream come true.  I didn't believe it could happen for me but the lovely proof is revealed by glancing down, my vision in a mirror or squeezing myself good morning.  Size matters little to me but being real is yuuge ;)

I purchased breast forms long ago but found that only worsened my feeling of being fake even if it helped to fill out a blouse.

I have always had breasts and they have always been an erogenous zone and symbol for me even if somewhat underdeveloped.  I dreamed of being a mom and nursing my babies.  I had a minor degree of gynecomastia as a young adult and loved it when people noticed my little tits.  They are an essential part of my transition and learning curve as they actually affect balance, posture, clothing and so much more.  American culture equates breasts with sexuality and that conflation also comes with occasionally unwanted attention or worse.

I am happy to be pushing a b cup and find this size allows me greater freedom to go braless without exaggeration.  Having breasts is exquisite in my intimate world and a wonderful sensation every single day.  Love the bounce and i love the handfuls of joy that help my body to finally feel right and normal.

...to suddenly go from being flat chested to having breasts through taking hormones...

It usually takes between 18-24 months to fully develop breasts using HRT so you have plenty of time to get used to them...just like with teen cis girls going through puberty. So it isn't all that sudden, there's a lot of change that goes on and they will be very sensitive/painful for the first 6-12 months as they bud and start to grow (beware of random bear hugs, doorways and leaping kittens/puppies).

As others note, they feel right. Most of the time I'm not even aware of them.

I still notice mine and its been quite a long time. They make me happy, and I'm pretty sure I smile every time.

Its a very very different experience to being male.

If I grew a size each time I prayed for breasts they would be size HHH. Breasts are a visible indication of how far we are willing to go, to achieve our real identities. Breasts just announce it to the world. They weigh about a pound and a half YMMV. Bounce a little when we walk. The breasts themselves have little sensation. But the nipples, oh my God the nipples. And when I take off my sweatshirt because I am not ready to go public yet. I want electrolysis done. I get a sense of accomplishment and joy that nothing compares too except the birth of my children. I know comparing boobs to children, go figure. But really, my children were the result of dealing with the cards (genitals) I was dealt. Breasts on the other hand are a celebration of the person I was destined to be as my brain developed on female hormones.

It feels really really good, as others have said, my boobs now feel directly wired to my vagina and where I tried for years to enjoy breast stimulation before HRT, in my case there was never anything special there before estrogen.

Uhh... so much to look forward too... Can't wait... For me breast forms actually help. They bounce so nicely...

If I would take the entire 2 year supply of Estradiol in 2 weeks, would I have a C-Cup by the end of January?  ;D

Hi Thessa,

Most of the hairs went away on their own, especially when I started Progesterone in the 2nd year of HRT! I think because it lowers T even more and has a strong effect on the breasts!
I was always less hairy, compared with other AMAB's anyway, but I used to use herbal products to reduce T and improve E which helped with my disphoria years ago before it was understood and medical HRT was generally prescribed.

Hi Sarah,

I so know what you mean! I would have done anything to get them straight away, besides surgery. The best way I found to think of it was to remember that saying, "a long journey starts with the first step", so we need to remember we will get there if we look after ourselves health wise and make sure we do all that we have been instructed by our Endocrinologists. My endo and I have found that keeping Testosterone low and adding Progesterone helped my breasts grow, as well as Estrogen.

I have also found as we age, supporting the HGH (Human Growth Hormone) and IGF-1 (Insulin Growth Factor-1) in our system helps our breasts grow even more when on HRT, as these are both very high in teenage girls (even higher than teenage boys) when they are developing their breasts. We can never get to these teenage levels, but we can help and support our system through exercise (especially HIIT - High Intensity Impact Training, which is not easy but any exercise is good), eating well and supplements that are available from any vitamin/exercise supplement store or similar website store.

Good luck with you journey!

I have c-cup breasts, without implant surgery. The only time I really think of them is when putting my bra on, taking it off, or when my husband is holding them while in bed. It just feels like I should have always had them.

Hopefully it's not exactly like I would imagine, because I feel like I would just want to hold on to them literally all the time, like I'm afraid they'll go away or something.  And as comforting as that could be, it would be very unproductive!  lol  :D

Hi Amanda,

Too funny.....! You reminded me of when I walk around the house late at night naked (not like I do this all the time just toilet visit or to get a glass of water) and hold my breasts to stop them bouncing. Sometimes I don't want to let them go, very comforting! LOL ::)

Thanks for all the great responses. Really enlightening and makes me quite envious. Although I dress in front of Mrs H, I wonder if I'll ever go down the HRT route. It used to be a case of no way, but I now find thoughts of it creeping in. Not massively at the moment but who knows where things will end up, especially in this game.

I'm a D through hormones only. They have grown pretty rapidly. Moving around, i am always somewhat aware of their presences because its weight that i never had in that place before, going up and down stairs etc. I truly love them and sometimes spend way to much time gazing at them in the mirror. Oh and fondling them, but hey why not they are pretty new. Hitting things like door jams is not a pleasant experience they are still sore daily.

It feels NORMAL! Of course, I have had them since puberty so I would not know what it is like to not have them.

Don't worry about not being able to keep your hands off them, "Resistance is futile!"

You can immediately find out-- about 50% of the way, anyhow. Just put on a bra and fill it with a pair of breast forms (or something equivalent) and walk around like that all day. This is an excellent exercise for anyone considering getting breasts. Even small breasts make a big difference in how you look to yourself, as well as how you move and walk. I highly recommend giving breasts a trial run.

Of course the the other 50% is how full breasts feel to actually have in your chest. Experiencing that will be much more involved. But I think many of the folks here who have them would recommend it highly.

Adding to my first reply, awareness now extends to body space and while they're far from large at presently a small B cup, they sometimes now hit a door or equipment as I move around a tight space, I now get reminded they're there.

Also when I get back to serious running I look forward to having a reason to wear a sports bra. I know bra chafe is a thing too but it can't possibly be as bad as nipple chafe / bleeding nipples :-(.

Similarly, hips, I've long envied female rock climbers the simple fact that a climbing harness laden with 20lbs of gear has a firm anchor about their narrower waist where I've forever had to be pulling a harness back up over my boy-hips on any route needing a big rack of gear. Now my harness fits me like a girl!!

Being overweight, but not on HRT, I wonder if it will be much different for me.  This is actually something I have been concerned with, my chest already is already over a handful but the fat goes under my arms giving the illusion that I have huge shoulders as it pushes my arms away from my rib cage.

I wonder if once I lose weight, if the same thing is going to occur once I go on HRT.

Started this HRT round a 36A and now fill a 36C.  Early on, they hurt all the time and the sensitivity shifted from annoying to pleasant over a 6 month course.  I am aware of them any time I wear a shirt as a loose one rubs them and a tight one holds them firmly.  I have gotten used to them now and they truly feel natural and 'right'.

Enjoy all the phases as they develop as we only get to experience this once!

Basically, they are two lumps that are tender to the touch. The nipples especially are sensitive to touch. Other than that, they are kind of just there. :-)

I remember asking my ex how it felt to have them before I transitioned expecting some kind of a really deep response from her and she simply said "they are just there" with a puzzled look on her face from my question.

Now that I have them I see what she means - they are indeed just there and they sometimes announce themselves when it gets cold or when they jiggle.

It also feels totally natural to me that they are there, and I like the fact that they cause women's clothes to look correct on me.

One of the primary benefits is that they are an unmistakable feminine gender marker and that helps with acceptance when I am around other women.

I love this thread. Very amusing to think about how people adjust to living with breasts.

My breasts grew from completely flat chested to 36C in about 12 months. Sometimes it was painful, sometimes tingly, sometimes I couldn't lie on my stomach. They haven't grown much recently but the areola are growing and darkening, which is interesting.

When I started HRT, I wanted breasts immediately. But looking back, I wouldn't miss for the world the experience of watching and feeling my body slowly change to female.

Now I just need some hips. When will they arrive?!?

A few years ago, I was very over weight. I lost the weight and started HRT. Now I wear a 40 D bra and a 32 waist.

From my experience, they feel completely different. Big boobs over a skinny waist feels fantastic. Moobs over a chubby tummy feels terrible.

Oh, what a subject. I remember when I first transitioned I asked my wife and my two special girlfriends this question. My wife said , you'll hate them when they are so small, but as you develop you will lean to love them and to look after them. When your nipples get sore, or you bump into things, then you will notice them. Alison one of my best girlfriends (she was DD Cup) said you need to start wearing a bra early and make sure you check your size with a proper bra fitting every six months and you will love it when you can wear low cut tops and guys  really notice their movement. Yvonne another CIS friend always used to say when you have been on HRT for 4-5 years you will really notice the difference because womens clothes will all fit so much better as they are generally designed to accentuate ones breasts and natural curves.

Its not just your boobs that grow, my clothes started hanging different, less muscle mass upstairs, pants fight very different, smoother skin, feminized face, odd looks from men all the time(even a "hey baby, I'm game" look, maybe twice a year) women, don't even blink at me anymore.  Guys sometimes say off comments, "he looks like a woman, or even laugh". The boobs is the least of my concerns(even though I have to be very protective of them), especially when I'm trying to keep the cat in the bag at work/home, my girlfriend already knows. I start being treated like a second/third class citizen and most important, I am way more emotional and less stoic.

Boobs?, lol, I think that's' the least of your worries, as you transition, the mental, social and cultural impact could be even a greater impact than the physical changes.

When too many of us wait a lifetime to feel real it seems reasonable to be a bit impatient.  I was way ready and started complaining after a week on HRT with no change.  Americans have often evolved in a land of instant gratification, I want it now!  ;D ;D ;D

I'm a FTM so i don't like or want mine however i know some MTFs
Basically it'll start to itch and it may feel painful "To a small degree" or bothersome but this feeling will go away and it won't be horrible. Besides that i don't got much for you being i'm not mtf and my puberty experiences i don't like discussing but lets just say my first puberty wasn't far off from what mtfs say they feel at the start.

The girls before me have covered the 'new growth ' angle very well...

But for me, there was an interesting twist. Yes, they itched, and grew, and jiggled, and bounced, and I was fascinated by every tiny change.

I had imagined that having them was going to be like having a playground under my blouse, and for a while that was the case, lol..

Then it happened. Suddenly, they stopped being interesting to me at all. Sure, they felt good, but I stopped wanting to touch them, and they became just like my elbow, or my knee, or any other body part.

I was like 'wtf??, oh nooo..."

And then, one day, well, one night, I was out on a date with a guy, and he hugged me, tightly, and they woke up!

When we ended up in bed later, and I was taking off my bra, and I watched him watching me, well, leering at me, trying to get his first glance at my boobs, and electricity filled them both, and my headlights went to high-beam, and his touch lit them up like a christmas tree. I was overwhelmed by pleasure and passion and desire, not because I had nice boobs, but because HE thought I had nice boobs, and they turned HIM on...

Suddenly, I felt more like a woman than I had ever felt before. For me, having boobs is irrelevant until I am with a man, then they are the bomb. For me, nothing beats that feeling, except intercourse, of course, and even then, boob play makes it sooo much better...

Once he leaves, and I am in the shower, I might as well be washing off my back or legs or feet.

They only matter to me now if a man wants them, lol. Otherwise, yeah, they look nice, but no sparks, nada...

In my experience I didn't feel much of anything of them. They grow so slowly that it's not all that noticeable. Less so for me because I was always binding 'em down and never had much sensitivity in them.

But for a lot of people they are an erogenous zone and generally make them feel good to have and to wear clothing with.

They are AWESOME.  I really like having them growing on my chest. I am not yet 3 months into HRT and cannot yet fill and A cup but love what I have. When I put on a dress or a ladies top, look the mirror I can see them pushing out the cloth as a lady should. I have 3 sets of breast forms and ever since I could see mine in the mirror I quit wearing any of them.  Mine may be small but there is much satisfaction in knowing that those breasts are me.

  Hugs,
