Hi folks,
Does any of you have a song that kind of speaks to you. You know, the one you can relate your life to, or your current situation?
I've recently stumbled upon such a song, from
Marina and the Diamonds - Numb

Too many to name! As a non audiophile who could never afford music, popular music has frequently voiced those senses of longing and yearning for love and change. Simple enough for me ;D
I have a few favorites at the moment that resonate with me:
Narcissistic Cannibal - Korn
Move in the right direction - Gossip
Denken sie gross (Think big) - Deichkind

Jimmy Brown by Michael Monroe
Hooligan by Pretty Maids
The way of the fist 5FDP
Mad World by Tears For Fears, though Jasmine Thompson's cover also really gets me.
Not the most upbeat of songs or lyrics, but I've had plenty of low times in the last few years and this song has usually been company for me.
Deep Slow Panic - AFI
The Prayer Position - AFI
God Called In Sick Today - AFI
This Picture - Placebo
Drag - Placebo
Burger Queen - Placebo
Teenaged Angst - Placebo
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - The Smashing Pumpkins
ugh.. too many to name </3
This one speaks to me deeply. I heard it first around 2004 when I was having a severe dysphoria crisis.
Return to Innocence - Enigma
It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.
André Gide, Autumn Leaves
Cellier's brothers song from Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence. I think it speaks for all our Journeys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvbEOMrwsss
Ride, ride through the day,
ride through the moonlight
ride, ride through the night.
For far in the distance
burns a fire
For someone who has waited long.
Good Read by the way. The prose is as equal in quality as Lolita. A pleasure to read.
Dancing Barefoot - Patti Smith
I've fallen in love and nearly a decade later, it still overwhelms me every day.

If you are a friend, you'd wanna get to know me again
If you were worth the while you'd be happy to see me smile
I'm not expecting sorry, I'm too busy finding myself
I got this
I found me
I found me
I actually have two, both by Leonard Cohen:
1) Alexandra Leaving (also co-written by the lovely Sharon Robinson), the lyrics of this song move me so much
and
2) Anthem, the line "ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in." pure poetry <3

Yes! This one almost always brings a tear to my eye.

I just spent some time alone on the bed listening to your songs...I wanted to reply to every one of you but what's the point, they are all great and speak to me. It's a weird and emotional feeling. Kind of overwhelming, to be honest.

In the year 2525 Zager and Evans.
Mad World - Gary Jules, that is a very special song for me, it explained many aspects of my childhood and how it has affected me today
Of the ones I can post about, the 2 that stick out the most for me are The Unforgiven by Metallica, and Forsaken off the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. David Draiman did a hell of a job with the song. Another one is Truly Alone by ICP. I could list 10,000 other songs but I'll end it with those 3.
Yes actually there is, and almost perfectly so.

I have been held down, and still am being held down by anchors that my mind has tied me to. I wish I could get out of my head so that I may enjoy life for once, but that has yet to happen. My mind has kept me under water so that I do not surface and experience potential danger such as criticism, judgment, and bullying like I have in the past. I feel silly writing all of that, but whatever.
I actually went my entire life without ever being able to relate to a song. But recently, when Two Steps From Hell released their newest album "Unleashed" there was a song on it called "See Me Fight" of which after listening to it a few times I found it to be very very relatable to a situation I went through not that long ago, thus becoming the first song I can say I relate to.
Just to bad it's a sad song XD
