Title: When will I start seeing changes?
Post by: supergirl23 on January 09, 2017, 08:24:10 PM
I know the rough timeline, but I'm almost two weeks in and I feel no different than I used to pre-HRT. Granted I have been sick for the last week and am just now recovering thanks to lots of NyQuil. And since I've been sick, I haven't been able to work on my voice at all.
I just want to know when I'll start feeling different.

What medications are you taking (NO DOSAGES!).

I'm on Spiro and the dysphoria mostly disappeared in 3 days.  I started Estradiol Valerate Injections two months later and in 10 days my nipples were sore/sensitive to the touch.  In three weeks I definitely had marble size buds and after 2 months I'm pretty well filling an A cup.  BUT by body reacted very positively to the E I was taking (my numbers shot right up.  Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV).

Others will post similar stories and others will post stories like yours.  Everyone is different.  It also depends upon your dosage.  You could ask your MD if you are on a transition dosage or an introductory level.

Good luck

For me, it was about a month before I really felt any mental changes.  Physical changes took even longer than that.  So it can take a while.  Don't worry.  :)

I'm on Spiro, finasteride and estradiol. And I my dysphoria I getting worse. Also, could all of these medications be making me sick? Or is this just a coincidence?

A little over a month here. Started with Spiro and estradiol pills. The relief at starting was awesome. I didn't really stats reinstall anything different until I noticed libido was dropping off about two weeks later.

I switched to injections a couple of weeks ago and I too am noticing the sensitive nipples.  They seem a little bigger as well.

As far as disphoria, about the only thing I can say is I feel more bold going out dressed en femm without makeup and wigs.

Hi Supergirl23,

You could be on a low/introductory dose and things take a little longer as others have said. I am surprised the disphoria is worse as it usually gets better after the start. I have not been sick from the HRT medications but not sure about others! Maybe being sick slowed the effects as well? As the old saying goes 'it won't happen overnight but it will happen'.

HRT can work slow or fast it depends on the person for me HRT worked fast within a couple days my voice was dropping (I'm ftm btw) but for either side the time it takes will depend on the person so giving someone a time zone isn't completely possible you can try but in the end it's up to the persons body. You can even ask doctors they'll tell you around the same thing it takes time and every person may respond differently this will be the same with anything you're taking it takes time.

Almost immediate relief.

Swallowed my first pills, sighed and thought, 'Ah. Estrogen. I have crossed oceans of time for you.'

Mentally, about a week for me to stop hating myself.  Physically, at about 4 months my head hair is filling back out, and growing nicely.  Nipples are sometimes sore, and sometimes not, and I haven't really noticed a breast size change, but my wife says they are a bit bigger.  Libido was gone real quick.  The pills did make me feel warm, and a bit like I had a fever for the first couple months.

Hello Supergirl

I'm an old member here, and I recently rejoined to offer a bit of insight from time to time.

I'm going to take a different approach to the other respondees:  take your hormones and then forget that you're even looking for changes from them.  Hormones are a lottery, and you never know how much of anything you're going to get!

The true changes are the ones you're probably going to have to make yourself - through strong personal effort.  Changing your voice is one of them - give it time; practise a lot; record yourself and listen to how you speak;  take your voice out with your friends - and work at it for at least 6 months, even if it's exhausting.  And similarly for the other things that are needed to become a girl - mannerisms, body posture, your use of personal space, choosing and implementing a style of dress and presentation that will work to your best advantage etc.   These are the things that are much more likely to make you into a credible girl.  (If you want breasts right now, get a padded bra, and if you want long hair get a good wig and take a family member with you for their opinion)

I hope this makes sense.  Good luck!

I'm on my 8th week of spiro and estradiol (patch and pill) I think my chest started being sore about the 2nd or 3rd week. I started to  notice a bit more fattiness at about a month with a firmer lumpiness developing in the areas outside of my nipples but nothing right under, sort of like a donuts under the skin. Now the firmness has filled in under the nipple and there is a little more on my chest. No "budding" though. I so look forward to that budding though it will make concealing them that much more of a problem.

For me the earliest changes were decreased libido, sore nipples increased hair growth, and minor fat redistribution. (fat on botton of arms, butt and chest)

At about 2 months arm hair color changed from brown to light blond and my body hair growth slowed way down.

At about 2.5months in my testicles shrunk to about half the size and breasts are at about AA cup 34" so with a little padding I can fill out an A cup. THere are giant knots behind the areolas as well. The hallows in my butt are almost filled and thighs are getting more fat. Weight is still 5'10" and 127lbs(I was 126 lbs pre transition) so my muscles are presumably getting smaller.

I'm on injections estradiol valerate.
