I know this sounds crazy, but since I started taking hormones I get cold very quickly. This recent cool weather (I'm in California) is driving me crazy. I'm always freezing in weather that used to call for shirtsleeves. I've got a dresser full of lingerie and I just got back from target with a bag full of sweats. Is this normal do you think.
Yes it is. Estrogen thins the skin, so you are going to get colder easier. I got cold easily before but now it is pretty bad.
I have noticed the same thing, layers are my best friend! :)
Hot flash, chills, comfy, chills, comfy, hot flash..... it never ends lol
I'm sure happy that I'm not crazy. Now anyone have any ideas how to be warm and not look like a frump.
scarves, gloves, sweaters, hats, earmuffs, knitted jackets etc. flannel pajamas for bed...
I'm not like other people. I get less cold now.
I have always been a "cold" person ;D Seriously, I'm freezing almost all the time, except on those hot summer nights of course! >:D
tink :icon_chick:
omg! you feel the same way too? I swear I feel just the same way as you do! I feel colder than females.
Here I am at work wearing jeans and a big ol sweater......and Im still freezing. I guess I should be happy that this seems to be my worst problem right now. Have a nice weekend all.

I'm cold too. I'm done making fun of my mom for being cold all the time, now I understand.

I'm going with Tink on this one haha. My parents got sick of me always having the heater on so they bought me a little mini one, so needless to say that's on about %70 of the time in my room now :D Anything below 75 is cold!
My mother's the same way. I'm the opposite. I've got two fans going and the window open in January. Still got all my estrogen though. It's in my blood. I've got a super thick hide. I was engineered to withstand Siberian winters.

Below 75? That's practically sweltering!
no. I'm hot all da time hehehehhe ;) >:D
I HATE the cold hate hate hate hat it......
Sence starting HRT my tolerance for the cold has stayed about the same <0 tolerance> but I cant stand the same amount of heat anymore :( I used to love it when it hit 110, now if it gets above 100 its too much...
For the winter its layers layers layers.... It kills my figure, but its better than freezing.
PS: Its winter IMHO when the temp drops below 65.....

PPS: I think I must be part snake because I cant function in the cold and love basking on hot rocks LoL

Haha what can I say. I love to be warm!! :D I guess I could settle for 70. . . but that's the lowest!
I get cold so quickly now. I hate the cold. Brrrrr!
I'm glad that Cowtown's winters are mild, and not like Ontario/Montreal or anywhere back east. Sure, we get a few cold days, but with the chinooks -- a warm wind that comes along in the winter -- we get a lot of nice days. But, literally, here it's like this: Wear a parka today, and bundle up really good, but tomorrow you can wear a T-shirt or a light sweater. Some people don't like it because we don't get a lot of snow, and if we get snow, it melts within a week. Our Christmases are usually brown. Also, the warm/cold, warm/cold thing drives some people nuts. I'm used to it, so it doesn't bother me.

Hi
I don't like winter and have never liked it from all the way back in my childhood. If it got bellow -10 C I just wouldn't go out if I didn't have to. I lived all over eastern US and Canada and the place I liked the best was Tennessee Now I live in (so far) good old Vancouver BC where I haven't seen the temp drop lower the 13 C and certainly not all the rain we were told, actually has been nice and sunny most of the time here. Anyway I don't have any gripes about BC weather. As for being cold back in Ontario it didn't mater how thick a coat and sweaters and whatever I never felt warm just bulky like the Michelin man. The strange thing is that my hands are always toasty warm.
Cindy
I've always been cold, but I'm even colder now that I'm on HRT. I live in Toronto and it's getting very cold here, all I can do is wear a warm jacket and winter boots.
Hi Jessica
Have you heard of Midland Ontario? about thirty miles north of Barrie. That was where I lived for onto 9 years, the longest time I ever lived in my life outside the Homestead where I grew up which was in the Parry Sound area, another 60 miles north of Midland. I went to college in Sudbury, a hundred miles north of Parry Sound. Well anyway I think I outdid Stomping Tom as far as moving about both US and Canada.
Cindy
Brrrr, Toronto's cold Richmond Hill is colder and anything north of Newmarket is freezing. Barrie is so cold in winter, I think the Lake keeps Toronto sightly warmer, that and all the cars and pollution. If I had money I'd be in Brazil
Hi Jessica
Maybe you are right about lake effect wind in Toronto but if we got lake effect winds off the Georgian Bay in Midland about -5C felt more like -20C and you get tons of snow. Brrrrrrrrrr It was getting to the point I wouldn't actually couldn't go outside during the winter and I felt guilty that Wing Walker had to do all the business and grocery shopping. I wouldn't come out of the house until half past March.
It's wonderful here in Vancouver, the lowest temp we had so far was +10C and it was also the first day we got wind since we got here in August. Get rain every now and again but that is much better then snow. The good part is I am still going out with Wing Walker to do shopping and other activities around town.
Cindy
I've heard that testosterone raises your core temperature. Not sure about that, thought. What I am sure about is that I sweat a ton!
I am very sensitive to the cold but my hands are always toasty warm, I could melt snow with them.
Cindy
I'm the opposite my hands and feet are first to get cold, with a warm jacket my body is not too bad. I just try to not go out much, just dress warm. In my case it's kinda good because by next summer I will have been on HRT for a year so I hope my body will be a bit more flattering when I get into those light tops again.
I live in Copenhagen, one of the coldest cities in the world but it's quite warm now. 41 degrees (Farenheit). Not too bad for this Dutch girl ;)
Here, another canadian in southern Ontario freezing her buns off. I haven't been able to tolerate the cold myself lately. Once it gets below 5 degrees celcius, I have a hard time dealing with it.
I also can't stand the very hot days in the summer like 25 degrees celcius and up. I have my thermostat set at a comfortable 22 degrees year round. Thank god for programable thermostats. ::)
wow, and I thought I had it cold when it gets to like 50 degrees here in the night lol.
Well I HATE the cold weather too. Like all Mediteraneans I dont have it for long....
I LOVE THE SUMMER -THE SUNSHINE - AND THE BLUE SEA OF AEGEAN!!!
Even as a person who hasnt started taking hormones yet, my skin is naturally thin and I get a lot colder than any of my guy friends. I feel kinda like im already taking them cause I have so many layers that make it hard to move.
Hi well it isn't to bad here yet In Vancouver BC, I am still going out with just my jacket. Actually it was like spring today with the warm sun out.

let me keep you hand2hand :-) I'm just the opposite, I have ice in mine. :-\
Well...Its weird...
Cause I did the phytos, and then stopped. But ever since I decided that I was genuinely transgender, more towards the TS side, I've felt colder. It may be a lack of working out, yes, but I also feel like a light weight with alcohol. What the HELL?
I mean, yes, I'm bones skinny, but I used to never get buzzed or cold THIS quickly O_o
Hi Evelyna
My hands are always hot and when I touch people with my hands they feel a light buzzing affect.
One girl last year when I touched her hand she jumped back as though she had got a hold of a live wire. Sometimes I cause my computer to go nuts and cause the TV and the stereo to go on and off by themselves.
Cindy
Yeah-I`m a coldie to!-ever since starting treatment I noticed how I get cold so sasy now and my genetic girlfriends do to,so at least I am not alone-it baffles me as to how the guys in the u.k walk around in t-shirts in the winter-macho thine methinks!!

Sounds like you wear woolen socks and try to step dance before doing anything. XD
"LOL" "hee, hee, hee. Thank you for the laugh hon.
Cindy
So yeah. I get a physical today...And apparently I LOST 6 pounds since my last physical. O_o
Hence...My coldness.
Its most likely my allergy to wheat, which has caused me less carbs. It sucks.
Yeah me too. The cold used to not bother me. But now. I'm freezing most of the time. And I love it. Just gives me an excuse to go shopping and buy more clothes. Thats weird! I didnt like shopping before starting harmones. Now i enjoy it.
I was mad the other day cause I saw a sweet shirt I liked in the womens section of the mall. I was already getting my mom something for christmas, and finally had money, and not finding what I wanted was annoying.
The coldness...Continues.

But Tink, a famous man once said the coldest winter he ever spent was
summer in Utopia!!!
Now it's Dec 14 and for the last 3 or 4 days, it's been in the high 70's here in Tara. Granted it's supposed to get down to our normal average low of 50 something over the weekend but then it's supposed to just warm back up. All ya'll come see us and get warm. ;) ;)
Beverly
I get so cold too! I often laugh at myself with how many layers I have to wear before I feel warm again! I'm still freezing right now, but it's -4F out right now. I'm glad the cat is snuggling with me.
Brrrr.
I get cold so much easier now, then before I started HRT. I have only been on hormones for about a month and half and I really have noticed the difference. I was standing outside here in WA and I was shivering, when before that would not have happened. I don't like it, but I guess I will just have to bundle up and get used to it. I now understand why my x always was cold and hated having the airconditioning on. She always had the house so hot, now that will be me lol.
Hugz,
Ariana
Oh dear. I'll probably look like the Michelin Man when I start HRT. I'm always cold as it is - I sleep under two wool blankets and a comforter during the summer. Even now I'm in a room that's 70+ degrees F, and I've got a heavy shirt, wool socks and a blanket.
Val
Hi Jayne, Holy smokes where do you live girl? Mars?
I don't really know if this feeling cold is related to the hormones but I have found myself getting less resistant to the cold for the past twenty years, well before the hormones. I am glad I live in Vancouver.

ha ha, close, Minnesota! It gets Siberia like cold here!
Hey you all keep warm Ok and before you leave the house in the morning make certain that the back flap on your long johns is buttoned up. I remember wondering if one could get one of those NASA space suits to wear out in the cold. I changed my mind after I thought that it could become very uncomfy really quick if one farts in their own space suit. ;)
Cindy
I love the cold. Above 60 F is too hot for me.
