I know that most men, even those not necessarily pre-disposed to balding, experience some degree of hair loss as they age (my grandpa started getting a lesser variation of the 'Jude Law' type pattern after he got into his mid sixties). This is something I've come to expect and that sort of age-related hair loss isn't what I'm specifically referring to in this thread.
I'm referring to straight up going bald and/or experiencing serious thinning as some cis males do in their twenties. As a trans man, I knew going bald or dealing with extensive thinning was possibly something I'd have to face; after almost a year and a half on T, however, I've been lucky enough to experience neither of those things.
Though I realize I'm still pretty early to the party, I'm wondering if there ever comes a time when you can just sort of sit back and not worry about it anymore--the whole 'if it was going to happen, it would've *more* than likely happened by now' bit--or if it may always be a looming threat.
For those that have been on T for several years (2-3+), what are your experiences? Did you think you were in the clear only to deal with a sudden change three or four+ years in?
Did any of you just starting out experience immediate loss or thinning only to see it taper off?
I've been on T for 4 years. My hair is thicker and grows faster. My hair line changed very, very slightly, but only in that I now have a slight widows peek. It's less than my mother's, but now matches all of my brothers hairlines. I never worried about balding though. My husbands family has balding on one side and full heads of hair on his mother's side so I've been around balding men for a long time. If I had lost my hair it would have been a "shouganai" thing. (Shouganai = it can't be helped)

I think its one of those things you have to rely on genetics to get a grasp of, I think both sides of my family really have no history of balding and the men in my family have good heads of hair, so I was very greatful and therefore not preoccupied with the balding aspect. At most maybe my hair might be taking a more male hairline but I hardly ever notice those sorts of things.
Actually the main thing Im worried about is growing a neckbeard, it seems most my hair is sprouting under the chin rather than the face itself amd Ive been shaving regularly to keep the patchiness and shag at bay
Mine has been thinning for years. I figure that will continue to happen until there is no more to thin. Sad, but true in my case.
None of my older male relatives are remotely bald but it would be just typical if I was "that one" that ended up that way. How soon does thinning typically start?
Over 2 years on T, 1 month on DHT. No balding or thinning whatsoever. My hairline did change almost immediately on T, but that was about it in terms of hair changes. My dad's side of the family is genetically predisposed to it. My mom's side is not. While appearance-wise, I do very closely resemble my dad and have a similar build to his side of the family, it looks like I've got maternal hair genes.
I am a little more watchful due to the current DHT use, but I've seen nothing from it so far. I take a biotin supplement and use biotin shampoo though.
I'm not on t but I'm scared that I will have hair loss cause my dad lost his hair early [emoji19]

Same with ghostbees. Not on T yet, but I fear something happening to my hair like that. It can't be helped, but I still fear. I'm too vain.

I've been on for 8 years... My hairline itself changed & I now have a widow's peak, but no thinning on my crown or temples. Its all in your genes though, so YMMV
