Title: A positive sign at work
Post by: patrick1967 on January 20, 2017, 05:18:28 PM
One og my biggest concerns with coming out has been my immediate manager. He is not openly hostile towards LGBT issues, but is extremely tactless at times. We had an interview yesterday with a gender nonconforming applicant and while I will say I gave him a heads up in advance, he handled the interview very well. During his normal "Safe and non harassing environment" spiel he mad a point that while some of the employees may joke around and not necessarily filter as much as they should ((small good old boys kind of place))he would not put up with anyone being malicious or making jokes that made the individual uncomfortable. I may be better off than I thought

Glad to hear it! It's always good when supervisors surprise us.
