I'm pretty new to posting anything, but I'm pretty clueless as far as obtaining resources goes and I have no clue where to find a surgeon. I'm currently in West Michigan if there happen to be any in that area.................

If you need to use insurance you may need to find out which surgeons are available to you.
Closest to you that I know if it's Dr kuzon. At the university of Michigan. He's seems to be a good Dr but I've never found much info about him online. He was really nice when I had my consult with him a few months ago

are you limited to Michigan only?
if not, google gender reassignment surgeons in the United States and all sorts of names should come up.
I had mine narrowed down to
Christine McGinn (New Hope, PA)
Kathy Rumer (Ardmore, PA outside Philly)
Marci Bowers (San Francisco)
Toby Meltzer (Glendale, AZ)
Bowers didnt seem to give a rip since I didnt have money on hand to get scheduled. Her waiting list was also a year and a half long at the time (longer than that now). She was really rude and standoffish on the phone. I ended up hanging up on her.
McGinn was strange on the phone. She seemed disconnected/pre-occupied. Almost like talking to someone who wasnt all there. She didnt take my insurance. Just didnt feel that connection I was looking for. Which is odd because she was my first choice based on the documentary TRANS and I thought I'd connect her with better than anyone else I interviewed. She was booked a year out too.
Melzter seemed more concerned about my money, didnt take my insurance and does a two part surgery. The initial vaginoplasty and then you come back for labiaplasty. No thanks. one procedure is enough for me. He wasnt the politest person on the phone either and very impatient, kept cutting me off and interrupting me while trying to talk. He was also booked 2 years out.
Rumer was kind compassionate, caring, was prepared to answer all of my questions, encouraged me to do my research and said she took my insurance (Cigna). As soon as she started talking, I knew she was the right surgeon for me. She was only booked 6-7 months out.
Right now my surgeon in Daniel Greenwald in Tampa http://bayshoreplasticsurgery.com/ . I am having the first surgeries in 2 weeks and hope to have GCS end of the year with him.
Dr Bowers is very good but 2 years waiting.
I am always looking at reputation, in Florida not all doctors have a great reputation and experience.

I went to Dr. McGinn. My anatomy made her an excellent choice. Most of Dr. McGinn's procedures are single stage. I have labiaplasty scheduled 5/15. I am very satisfied with the aesthetics and my depth is just about 5 inches ( I was very lucky with what she had to work with which was a scrotal graph). She is direct and to the point. I have had many post op appointments with them and two post op procedures. They have taken extremely good care of me. I need to make an appointment for 2 weeks from now for a check up. My case is not the usual.
Rumor can only do a single procedure and can not do a later labiaplasty.
