Title: Remeber thouse we lost on November 20th
Post by: Jake_to_Jackie on November 11, 2007, 03:25:53 AM
I love you all my sisters and brothers. I wish so much we could all get together. hold one another tight and have a moment of silence in loving honor of those who have died cause of pointless hate.

We would all hold candles and show love and remembrance to those 156 KNOWN deaths cause of Transgender hate crimes. But because we are unable to be near one another. I request we all have a moment of silence for the minute of 1:56 AM or PM for the 156 not with use any more.

And finally hold the people close to you and tell them you love them.

Your sister forever
Vanessa Anne McMains

Vanessa, this is a wonderful idea. Fortunately, my church (UNITY of Clearwater, FL) is hosting a service the evening of the 19th. We even have a music tribute planned. I will be an usher there, along with my partner, Ann.

Honey, so do I. We are inviting everybody we know. My church has a lot of Lesbians, and a few gay guys. There are 2 of us trans women who are members. I taught SS there for 2 years, and will go back to it after I am out of school. My minister is one of the biggest pro-trans activists I have ever met. We had three other trans members, one died, one moved away, and the other one just got stupid and quit because the minister wouldn't agree with her on something. I had another trans friend who attended, but she has disappeared. Jennifer Edwards, of 48 Hours fame, about 3 years ago, attended there too, as my guest. We are a very trans affirming group, but unfortunately, it is hard to get people to try it because they are so soured on churches because of the anti-trans attitude most of them teach. If your church wont accept you, Honey, find a better one, like I did!

In loving honor of those who have died cause of pointless hate.
I write that down, tears in my eyes.
I remember that in the last New Year's Eve, everyone around was laughing and playing noisely, while I was thinking about the one who rest in peace 14 years ago right at that moment...
I always try to be optimistic. But WTF the reality...

I'll be forwarding this info to my wife, who's a UCC-minister-to-be, and will be ordained by then. The pastor of my family's church is an out-of-the-closet lesbian, and my wife will want to work with her on this.

Thanks for sharing this.
