This provokes a mixed response from me. Firstly, the first few times I dressed and went out as Yanira I went to a dressing service and they did what I thought was a pretty fantastic job, as at least I felt I was passable. I will say that I relaxed during the makeover and enjoyed having it done.
When I do it myself I feel that it is a daunting task and that I am out of my depth. Though there is an excitement about the transformation that is occurring I don't have confidence in the end result. My wife is fortunate in that she doesn't have to use make up to be beautiful so she can't really help me either. Nor did I have a female adolescence where I could experiment with eyeliner with my BFF and become a goth!
I also think it is time consuming and a bit of a hassle. I don't think of myself as a lazy person but the whole make up thing is certainly an impediment to me being Yanira as much as I would like to be her. It is also a bit of a bore taking it all off.
What are your thoughts ladies?
Hi Yaniea, I really find it tedious and it never looks right when I do it. I feel like I look like a little kid trying out her mom's make up. If I were rich I'd have a full time makeup artist on hand . I'd love to get a class or something on it. I guess there's YouTube but it's not the same as a professional artist. And yes I hate taking it off!
Hi TigerLily,
I really do enjoy putting on my makeup, actually I enjoy doing everything that is girl connected. Having just come out to my wife a few months ago, I am relishing everything I finally get to do. BTW, I want to say that I ordered a kit from IT Cosmetics and i'm not trying to sell anything but the concealer and foundation really works. If you girls are looking for a great foundation and concealer, give it a try. I am not selling anything, I purchased it and I am just suggesting that it is an amazing product!
I start my HRT this Friday and I am very excited. My wife is supporting my decision to transition 100% We are deeply in love and we have no plans to end our relationship after my GRS. As a matter of fact, we will be renewing our vows after I am completely healed, she is buying me a diamond and I will get to wear a beautiful white wedding dress. This is a life-long dream come true! I am so thankful that my wife is committed to our love and life together. I am one very happy Trans woman!!!
Love to all,
Krystina!!!
Hi Yinara,
I have to admit I like makeup but I'm no artist. I've never been an artist and for my face I need an artist. For one thing an artist would know color palettes. An artist would know the techniques need to hide the flaws. An artist would be able to make me look better. Things I am not able to do myself. I'm terrible at it. But it's fun.

I love the thought of putting on makeup! I have tried a couple times but very lightly. I rarely get the chance to practice it. I want to learn it and I know I can watch videos, but I really want to practice, just never get the chance to.

Most women around me do not wear makeup except moisturizer and sun cream.
In my case, I occasionally wear foundation and powder for special events. For everyday life, I just apply moisturizer and sun cream, wear lipstick and eyeliner/eye shadow/mascara.

I just bought a complete makeup kit last week and I am excited about it but not be out I haven't had too much opportunity to mess with it. I have only tried some lipstick and some blush. I had a little (online) guidance putting on lipstick and how to make them full and sexy. I was completely blown away though. I didn't know I could look like that. The blush even seemed to change my shape. I haven't done foundation or my eyes but I am pretty excited about doing it. I am sure it is a pain doing it all the time. Couldn't imagine that but I am loving the results so far.
My sister started me out when we were young. I can do it, but it is a chore that I find boring. However, if I can talk someone else into fixing me up, that I really enjoy.
I also enjoy being bathed, powdered, and dressed by someone else.
I love to wear make up. But for everyday use I have really the minimum, meaning powder, minimum eye make up and lipstick. Sometimes less is more.
Honestly, I could stand in front of the mirror doing my makeup all day, being that I'm a perfectionist, in that sense. But, I have to keep in mind what the end goal is. If I met the intended goal, then it's fine to stop. But, I do enjoy putting it on. I will say that if I could just put a mask onto my face that magically laid the makeup onto it and it would be perfect after removing the mask, I would buy it as soon as I could. But, the process of putting it on is interesting and can be relaxing, too. If it didn't take so long to put all of it on, I would wear it everyday. To each their own. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love doing makeup and experimenting, even though i generally wear pretty light makeup outside the house (eyeliner, bb cream and lip stuff). I'm also not very good at it yet but i am getting better.

What kind of BB cream would you recommend? I can't really "dress up" here in Kuwait, but I've been thinking of using something like BB cream to help even out my skin tone and reduce wrinkle lines, as well as provide some sun protection. Most I've seen do this, but I was wondering if there are any that you'd consider better than most.
I do like to put on makeup, I hate it when i screw up on something and have to restart or run out of my colour. I can usually do my makeup in 10 to 15 minutes.

I have experimented with several BB creams, but at present my favorite is L'oriel which can be found in most stores and pharmacies over here. White and aqua tube.

Okay, I've seen that one. I was looking at some on Amazon and, so far, I like Olay CC Cream, REN Satin Perfection Bb Cream, and Estee Lauder Daywear Bb Anti-oxidant Beauty Benefit Crème. I'll add the one you mentioned to my list and compare them. Thanks, Robyn!

I just got back from my manicure, including colour. I certainly enjoyed it.
I wish I could do my makeup better my hands are really shaky dunno if its just excitement or if my nerves are just shot hahaha
Painting my nails is like meditation to me. Putting on eyeliner is the opposite of that. So I'd say it's a bit of a mixed bag for me, but overall I enjoy experimenting with makeup. I'm rubbish at it though, thinking about getting some training.
At my age less is more, but finding what equates to less, that sweet spot, is difficult. It definitely is an art form.

No not I, not very much. To transform this weather-beaten mug is quite the job. However, anything worth doing is worth doing well. It takes lots of practice to get there, and since I've got to be out and about tomorrow I'd better get started now...
