Hey girls!
I am scheduled for SRS with Dr. Chettawut on April 3rd 2017! I was wondering if anyone else would be there around the time I am. I'm always up to meeting new and interesting people :)
I am super excited about going. If anyone has any recommendations or advice in all ears!
Hey, I'm about one week behind you. I'll be staying at the Dusit.
Just go and enjoy yourself! Chett's people are great, and if you have catering equipment, they'd love a cup of tea as they go on their daily patient visits.
And if your budget will permit it, download the Food Panda app onto your phone. It's really nice to be able to get deliveries of anything from burgers to Cajun.
If you have any more specific questions just ask away...

Aww, I'll be at the Rama. :( I was going to do one of the more expensive ones, but financially things have taken a weird turn and now I'm having to scrimp and save just to make it work

No catering equipment, lol. Thanks for the Food Panda suggestion. A friend of mine suggested something like that too. What about translation? Has anyone had issues? Just use a translation app? I haven't traveled outside of the country before and I can't seem to learn new languages (no matter how much I try lol), so I'm stuck with English as my only means of communication.
I am getting more excited and nervous as the time draws near.
I was there for FFS about a year ago where I stayed at the vertical suite. You mostly mingle with the people within the hotel that you choose. For what it's worth, I think most people stay at the Rama so you will have at least a handful of westerners in your vicinity.
Language is tough, it's so rare for them to speak English, I had to rely on pointing to things on the menu and gesturing to take away etc.
Hi Greeneyes
The Rama is really not bad at all: you get a big chalet and it's often nice to be able to sit on your own porch or chat with the neighbours. You can also hear the rain at night, and the frogs! The place comes with basic catering. Honestly, while the Dusit is very swish and pretty, the rooms are small, and I really perferred the Rama's chalets. You can also walk around the alleys that are part of the complex (It's a retirement village as well!) The buffet breakfast is really basic, buuuut, ask the waiter for an omelet and you will get a gorgeous fat cheese omelet hot from the kitchen ;)
Language is really not an issue. Many people speak a bit of English. Just SMILE and mime if you need. The Thai people value politeness and kindness, and a big genuine smile will get everything fixed!
