Title: body changes before hrt
Post by: Tiffanysgirl on February 10, 2017, 08:13:23 PM
Im new here so Im sorry if this is an abrupt post but my SO is very worried about something and wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Going from mtf Tiffany has been experiencing breast growth, erectile disfuncion, strong emotions, and muscle loss. All of which I have read is supposed to happen when on hrt. However she has not even started that yet. This has been since embrassing her identity instead of running from it. Is her brain just reacting with a "big sigh of relief" or could there be a serious medical problem here?

She has a regular dr. Appt. Monday but dr. Is unaware currently of her gender issues.

Welcome to Susan's Place. This is something that should be brought up wth the doctor as some of the testing should include testing estradiol and testosterone levels. There is a possibility that she is intersex and something has shifted in her body. If she is intersex, it can simplify treatment somewhat and may give her peace of mind knowing the physical reason for what she felt all along.

The odds are it's not serious but it should be investigated at the next appointment.

Theres a chance it could all be mental and related to coming out. Has Tiffany recently started any other prescriptions? Has she been taking any herbal supplements or estrogenic over the counter meds? It's not the most uncommon occurrence for trans women to try out these options, even as a way of self medicating before hrt in attempt to alleviate dysphoria symptoms while waiting for letters from therapists or other personal factors are limiting access.

We got the results back and T is at 248. They didnt test estrogen and wouldnt even look into why it was low.

I have had significantly low T for a long time and when it first happened...I experienced exactly what you describe...It took me over 2 years to do anything about it...with me it was caused by an internal medication pump I have. The medication in that suppresses my T production...not deliberately but as a side effect. The stuff in the pump keeps me alive and ticking.

By the time I was scared enough to get to a Dr, my breasts had enlarged enough that I could feel them brush the inside of my arm...I did feel a whole lot calmer but lacked any motivation.

Is that result you posted Low T? My results are usually given to me as 0.05 range(normal I think is 5.0-6.0) If that reading is low then it can also be an age thing. I hope you can work it out

Liz

270 would be the bottom of the male rage so it is below normal but not by much. That would normally rule out the conversion of T to E unless something else is going on. Unfortunately with out the Estradiol levels, we are only seeing half the picture.
