I have been using a Panasonic electric razor for the past several years. I have noticed my facial hair is less dense that with a traditional hand razors. But its a very basic razor. If I push it in too close I get razor burn. Are there any recommendations here?
I used Braun foil types with pretty good success. Once I started presenting full time I went to blade pretty quick just for the closeness. I'm only 3 treatments into laser though and can skip a day or two. Definitely worth it.
If you're trying to get a close shave disposables work best for me.
Haven't got a clue about electrics, I quickly found out a hand razor is critical for a close enough shave that i had any chance of passing. If you are willing to give them a shot there is another recent thread on the subject of shaving that I'd recommend you have a look at! Lots of people shared their methods of shaving.

I agree with those that came before me. I switched from electric to straight blade and will never* go back. I subscribed to Harry's shave club and found their products good and cheap. (harrys.com)
* I keep my old electric razor in my car (with a power adapter so I don't worry about the battery) for touch-ups while driving. BUT it doesn't do a very good job as other have noticed.
One trick I found with electric razors is to NOT press hard. Go light over the skin and keep the skin loose. Don't make the skin tight and I got a much better shave.
I know, hand razors are better. But I used one for years and always got razor bumps. Yes, I tried everything to get rid of it.
