So I was just wondering when you first going on T, do you need to take an oestrogen blocker or something?
Is that even a thing??
Does testosterone ever get reverted back into oestrogen?
How long does it take to get within the male range?
How does testosterone effect someone mentally?
Is injections better than gel?

There is an estrogen blocker but Testosterone normally will do the job so in most cases it's not required. If you continue to have period, the doctor can control them with other medication.
Testosterone can convert to estrogen if the levels are excessive. Regular blood test will monitor your testosterone levels so you don't produce estrogen.
You will reach the male range pretty quickly. Reaching the desired level will take longer because testosterone has a half life and the dosage might not be high enough at first. Blood tests will be taken and your dosage adjusted as needed. It could take a few months before the correct dosage is found.
Testosterone will affect you mentally. Most become comfortable with themselves for the first time in a long time. What you will feel can't be known in advance and you will have to try it to know how you will react.
Injections and gels seem to work pretty much the same for most people. A few people have difficulty absorbing hormones through their skin but if this is an issue, it will be found pretty quickly.

Nope, you don't need it.

Over a certain amount, yeah. Not sure what that amount is though. You'll know if you exceed the conversion mark, because you'll retain water.

It took me a while. I'm still only just in it. But I'm using gel.

It's going to be unique to each case. But it took away my nervous anxiety. I can talk to people easier. It makes me more impatient. Less seriously angry, but quicker to get ticked off. Excess energy makes me need to go do something to work it off. I can fall asleep easier at night, and turn my brain off from overthinking. Nothing will make me cry, no matter how soul-crushingly depressed or sad I might feel. I have a better attitude towards getting things done. I wasn't intimidated by much before but I'm not bothered by anything really. I get into arguments more easily without realizing it though. A wild libido appears.
No guarantee it will be the same for you, but most of these seem normal for us

Apparently they're the same in effectiveness, but you won't get any mood crashes on gel taking the same amount each day.
Seconding Kylo. My social anxiety has dropped heaps but combined with getting ticked off quicker, I have no real censoring going on between brain and mouth and have started telling people how I really feel about things. Good in some ways, especially to vent frustrations, but at work it can be a bit of a hassle.
T itself suppresses estrogen production. So no, not needed. Estrogen blockers are only used in trans pre-teens and teens who want to offset puberty but not start hormones right away. In FTMs they are rarely used simultaneously, and the overlap usually only occurs in situations where someone was a pre-teen who started on blockers and will continue with the blocker for a short period of time while they start T. Many MTFs do require an anti-androgen pre-SRS because of the way hormones work in the body.
Testosterone converts to estrogen when your levels are too high. What # that is, is different for everyone. I've been as high as 900 with low E and had no issues, while I know some guys who can't exceed 500 before their E starts to jump.
T converts to estrogen in fat cells. So the higher body fat you have, the more conversion is taking place. It is why you see larger cis men with "boobs" and why larger FTMs may not masculinize at the same rate as someone with half the amount of body fat who started T at the same time.
It took me less than a month to get into the male range, but I had a pre-existing condition that caused high T.
It got rid of my anxiety, made me calmer.
Injections and gel are exactly the same in terms of results and masculinization over time, it just depends which form is more convenient for your lifestyle. I find gel to be inconvenient because I'm very active and thus sweat a lot.
