So I know DHT cream exists for genital growth but how does this effect the rest of the body? Is it a regional topical cream that only does its work on the area that it is applied too or can it have the effects of normal testosterone too like voice changes, hair growth, muscle gains?
Is there also another form of DHT for the whole body? I'm curious because I know DHT is the other major factor in body hair growth next to genetics. Is it possible to just take an injectable or oral DHT supplement to get that boost of terminal hair growth?
I hear it can accelerate hair loss (on your head) if you're predisposed to it.
can you actually still get dht in the US? Everything I have seen says it is banned or at least not available. My downstairs growth after 4 months is nonexistant
DHT isn't recommended for anyone that is less than 2 years on T. That is when growth maximizes for most people. It occurs in spurts, so if you're under 2 years on T you most likely are not done growing yet. It just takes time.
The way DHT works is it attaches to any available androgen receptors in your junk, causing growth. This is why it doesn't work for some people - if there are no androgen receptors left due to prolonged T use, then no additional growth can be had with DHT. That's also partially why it isn't recommended until you've been on T for 2 years. T is enough for most people to get decent growth. DHT should be seen and used as a last resort for genital growth. It is very expensive compared to T and it puts unnecessary stress on the body, not to mention the side effects like hair loss. My doctor won't write a prescription for it for anyone who hasn't been on T for 2 years and isn't having metoidioplasty done.
It gets absorbed into the body and will raise overall T levels, but it doesn't covert to estrogen. Some people talk about seeing some additional body hair growth on DHT, but that is the only thing I've heard of in terms of masculinization. I've never heard of voice changes, fat redistribution, etc. that can be attributed solely to DHT.
It's not available in the United States period, you have to import it. It also is no longer available in the 10% concentration. You can get Andractim, which is a 2.5% DHT gel from All Saints Clinic in Cyprus. You would need to email them your prescription and they would include it in the package so that when it gets opened at customs, it's clear that you have a prescription for it.
I've been on it for a little over 2 months now and have had no changes whatsoever.
Im not looking to get it. Im just curious because FTMs get it for their junk despite it being a naturally occurring hormone for the whole body. Ive never heard of it being for anything other then downstairs despite it having major effects elsewhere.
This is really interesting! My doctor mentioned a cream to help with growth in one of my appointments and that we would talk about it when I get to the right time for it. It made me think that he was going to write a script for it but I have been reading that you can't get DHT in the US and that it can cause hair loss if you have hair loss run in the family. There's something that gets prescribed to try to stop hair loss I think.

You can get it as a US citizen, but you'd need to import it from abroad. It cannot be produced by any pharmacy in the US currently. We do not have the raw materials to do it.
If you are predisposed to male pattern hair loss on your mother's side, you could try Finasteride simultaneously.
