First your state Medicaid would have to fund such a surgery and Medicaid in North Carolina does not. And how old are you that you get Medicare already ? And to my knowledge you can't have both Medicaid and Medicare

Try the University based Gender programs/surgeons . . . they already take Medicare.  Private practices are reluctant to take it because once they do they have to take any and all Medicare patients.

Understandably, if their practice is getting all the patients they can handle already, why would they take the lower revenue Medicare patients. . . :-(

Usually people who have both are on disability (though there might be other circumstances), my partner is in a situation like this, she gets most things via medicare, but the state picks up some things not covered with medicare under medicaid, whereas I have medicaid only, which means we pay different amounts for the same medication frequently.

To the OP though, there have been some surgeries under medicare that I am aware of, but medicaid is incredibly variable from state to state. I have heard a few people in IL who got coverage, but I haven't seen definitive proof, some states however, retain blanket exclusions to trans care, likely more will follow with the legal action against section 1557 of the ACA. Good luck though, you will probably have to call people directly and inquire to be sure about things.

I know Dr. Rumer in PA accepts Medicaid, because I live in PA, saw DR. Rumer, and am getting surgery.

Dr Bluebond-Langner at NYU Langone in NYC takes medicaid. I have one friend on medicaid that had her surgery with her this past January and another that will probably have her revision with her who is also on medicaid.
