Hey everyone, well I ordered my hrt ( basically it's and estrogen booster ) ( not Rx hrt) and it arrives next week, after doing research I have found that the estrogen will reassign the fat on my body to collect around the hips things butt ect. However there's one problem, I am very skinny and I have a high moltablism. So this is what I'm gonna do, because I want to gain weight because it's something I should do anyways id like the fat to acculate around my hips and thighs, so once I start the boosters I'm going to start eating alot of fatining foods. Idk but this kinda sound dangerous after reading it back. You people have loads more experience so help me out here, I don't want to hurt myself.
I've also done tons of research, and not the actual act, but self medication with things that are effective is DANGEROUS!
There are a number of things that need to be carefully monitored by a professional. Also depending on the person it might not have much effect without also something to reduce testosterone, but even without that something the extra risks are there, meaning you'd be risking self harm for little or no gains. Basically, don't do this.
Then there's things like herbals which claim to be safe, which may or may not be true at their recommended dosage since supplements aren't regulated AT ALL, they can claim anything they want, as long as they print that it isn't intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any disease. But then the recommended dose isn't enough to feminize a male with intact testes either, so you'd have to take a lot, and at that point even if their claim that it's safe at the lower dose is true, it probably isn't at the higher dose.
Doctors or bust I'm afraid.
Definitely not the way to do it. Many of the "other" forms of HRT do little or nothing, can be dangerous or are very costly for the results that you get. You would be better off seeking out proper medical help even if it's only informed consent.
With proper HRT, what little fat you have will be redistributed and you will find that your body requires fewer calories to get by. The reduced demand for fuel will allow your body to gradually put the additional fat on that it requires. In my case, I was 145 pounds before starting HRT and I gained about 10 pounds by the time I had surgery. Because we didn't have blockers, I put on about another 10 pounds after surgery.
It's best not to develop a habit of overeating because it can be difficult to change that pattern when you no longer need to over eat. Many people fight a losing battle with weight because they allowed their body to gain more weight than was needed.
The thing is with overeating and me is that im 18 so I'm always eating haha but I only weigh 110 soooooo idk if that helps
When I was that age, I could put down two full plates of food, dessert for dinner. Lunch could be a half pound hamburger and a quart malt. My weight was pegged at 140 pounds and as I am 6'2", that's the bottom of my health weight range. Between removing the T from my system and age, I now need to eat less than half that in order to maintain my weight.
A proper blocker will make a big difference and that's why I am suggesting you seek proper medical assistance where your levels can be monitored and your chemical mix tweaked to match your needs.
Hi Jared,
I'm Jeanette. I want to welcome you to Susan's Place. You are welcome here and wanted here also. We all want to help you and support you. You're young and no doubt like every generation you feelt you are bullet proof and in a hurry. Please take enough time to read what you see here and think seriously about it.
I want you to know you are not alone in starting transitioning the wrong way. I started as you did. I did my research, found out what did what and how much I thought I would need to take. I ordered it and started taking it. But it did not take me long to realize that I had to tell my doctor what I was doing. My doctor needs to know what, how much and when I was taking those medications. He had a need to know so he could reconcile them with the medications I was already taking. He needed to know so he could take care of my needs properly.
So I had to come out to my doctor he was the first person I told. Treating me properly means understanding my need to be female and take that into account. It meant proscribing legal hrt drugs for me and at properly monitored dosages. It meant getting me started on the path to getting gender therapy to help me understand my needs and help me with a plan to meet those needs.
Hrt drug are dangerous drug even when properly prescribed and monitored but it is far safer than the DIY method.
HRT is also a lot more than taking drugs to change your body. HRT is a complete package.
I rectified my mistake and am doing it the right way now,
I hope you reconsider your actions and decide there is a better way to accomplish your goals.
Hugs,
Jeanette
You ppl are so much more knowledgeable than me, but I keep seeing g a reoccurring theme ( tell ya doc). I think I might try the boosters for one month and see how I feel, I know one month is not a long time and I probably won't see any changes, but your right I guess I am a stubborn "bulletproof" teen, I'll keep you guys updated but in the meantime I'm also just as concerned about the weight gain, does anyone have any info on that? Because originally I was going to just eat a loaf of bread every day but that seems really stupid haha

I for one, will not tell you what to do. :) I self medicated for years. I have a medical background, did a lot of research, and was very careful about what I did. I eventually moved from the dark side to care of a doctor. My motivation for it was more financial, because the scripts were cheaper thru my insurance than the online prices. I also was very curious about what my levels were, how my liver was, etc. It is not something that should be done without caution and careful research. I am a free spirit, though. I think other people have the same freedom for their own bodies, but ....BUT, caution. :D
The re-occurring theme is there for a reason. It is very dangerous, so talking to your doctor is the most sensible thing to do. Please be safe and I wish you luck.
People make claims that plant based products are inherently safe. A fellow named Socrates would probably like to debate that.
I hate to break this to you, but oestrogen boosters only work to slightly boost oestrogen in people who are already producing high levels of oestrogen. The clue's in the name: they boost what is already there. So they're designed to boost a female-bodied person's natural production of oestrogen, and testosterone boosters are claimed to boost a male-bodied person's natural production of testosterone. They don't work for cross-sex HRT; they can't make you produce significant amounts of oestrogen, and they won't cut down your natural testosterone production. Testosterone is far more powerful a hormone than oestrogen (and it overrides the effects of oestrogen) so as long as you have high levels of it in your system, you will not feminise. I'm very sorry, but you've probably wasted your money. :(
Besides, how do you know what's actually in these products? Can you prove that they contain what they claim to contain and nothing more? Do they come from a reputable source? Random stuff purchased from random sources can contain literally anything - including dangerous, banned chemicals that can harm your body.
As others have said, messing with your hormones is a dangerous business. There's a reason why we keep going on about doctors: because your body's hormonal profile is very delicately balanced and you can easily harm yourself if you're not careful. Please see a doctor and get on the correct T-blockers & HRT. And please don't bulk up on fattening foods: you could permanently wreck your metabolism and do yourself more harm than good.
Thanks for the info ftm diaries, I'm still going to try it for a month, but you're
Probably right
I'm the sites poster child for successful use of herbal supplements. Like Ainsley, I preach to no one, and did my research. I'm also switched to prescription HRT for financial reasons.
I agree with the folks who say just because it comes from a plant doesn't make it safe. After all, the Pharma HRT they're using is almost all soy based, and transgender women drop left and right from that. Yup, definitely not safe because it comes from a plant.
Bottom line, doctor prescribed HRT is nearly a prerequisite if you're going down the WPATH surgery route, so if that's in your future you're better off going straight to that plan.
Hugs, Devlyn
I'm not entirely sure I want to go for the full surgery yet, wanna see how this goes take it slow
