Title: Ordered my birth records...
Post by: Daniellekai on March 06, 2017, 12:33:02 PM
Haven't gotten them yet, but the records department was flabbergasted..  "you want the records from your birth? Like the time and weight?" "We should have those, it'll probably take a couple weeks, still want them?" "We'll have to order them you know."
Felt like screaming "B**** just give me the form." But I was very polite, lol... They say they'll call me if they can't find them, etc...

Hi Danielle,
Didn't know you could do this.  Are you getting the records from the hospital you were born at?
Thanks,
Paige :)

Yeah, being that they're from the 80s it's got to be paper copy only. I don't know if I'm going to find what I'm looking for or not, a scrawled note on the side about abnormal genitals would be pretty conclusive, but no mention of anything strange wouldn't be, at that point I'd just have to wait until I can afford testing.

Some hospitals charge for records, this one doesn't, but in the US at least you have a right to request copies.'

FWIW, I have my birth records from when I was born in 1953.  The hospital gave my mother a piece of paper with the info and I came across it, when we were packing up my her house when she moved into a senior's residence.  I don't know if I'll ever need it, but I have it if necessary.

Well I received it, I can't read the genital line... It's chicken scratch cursive doctor handwriting. But it's two words, app which I'm assuming it's short hand for appears and something else it either starts with an unconnected cursive s, which wouldn't match the word scratches in another place on it, or a capital D and looks like it ends with al, everything else is squiggly lines that aren't legible perhaps an undotted I or uncrossed t in there.
Frustrating, I'll just have to wait to get tested.

I haven't heard those words in years. My mother had old school secretarial training so she learned it but I suspect she hasn't used it in years. I am not sure just how much of it she remembers.
