Title: Presidents, Prime Ministers and other officials who had GD?
Post by: SailorMars1994 on March 13, 2017, 08:17:04 PM
This really just popped into my mind just now. Until recently it being Transgender, or Homosexual was very taboo and often people in the top would have their lives destroyed if outed. We often hear of people like Abraham Lincoln, James Buchanon, Richard Hatfield and others who have been rumoured to be gay or have indeed turned out to be gay. I was wondering if their is any polticial person from the past you suspect of havng GD? For what ever reason. Obviously some, like Lyndon Johnson one could easily say they almost certianly did not have GD but others i have my own woderings about. Like Calvin Coolidge and Lester Pearson lol. How about you? any thoughts?

Politics is for political issues and not to examine the gender identity of politicians/government officials. If you are talking about a a law or a government policy, it would belong in politics. General discussions was the other option but as this is a transgender topic, transgender talk is a better fit.

For everything he knew about everybody else, J Edgar Hoover was suspected of being both a cross dresser and in a relationship with his male companion. We only have second or third hand information on this. The official line is that Hover was married to the FBI and didn't have time for anything out side of that. It's anybodies guess what the truth was.

Lyndon Johnson was insecure but not about his gender identity. He was a very controlling/power hungry person and always wanted to be in control of everything. He cared little about his personal appearance as his suits looked like they never fit him correctly. He had sufficient wealth that he could have had all his suits taylor fitted but he didn't.

Watch the movie "The Right Stuff" when Johnson wants to visit John Glen's wife. There are many more stories about Johnson that describe that type of behavior.

Course, that's an intersting perspective. It insinuates he was just to macho or to male or to whatever and couldn't possibly be trans. Which of course is antithetical to what is known. I mean, who'd of suspected EVER that Kristen Beck was trans? You simply don't know who's what. And ultimately...it's no one's business.

I think I shall! I hope it is nothing too bad... I was really admiring his work in helpin push through civil rights. Honestly, not too get too political But if i was American and if I thought that if the 1960s under Kennedy an Johnson were much more LGBT friendly i would have loved the 1960s xD, granted if would also probably loved the 1920s too under the Harding/Coolidge years if it was lgbt friendly and of course the 1980s... Tho, i would have been super concerned of the Reagan administraton governing me for many many personal reasons...

..... I later re-canted that and made a reversal.....

James Buchanan?  Not trans, apparently.  But very possibly gay.

James Buchanan: America's first gay president?
By Timothy Cwiek
Washington Blade, October 4, 2011

"More than 150 years before America elected its first black president, Barack Obama, it most likely had its first gay president, James Buchanan (1791-1868).  Buchanan, a Democrat from Lancaster County, Pa., was the 15th president of the United States, and a lifelong bachelor. He served as president from 1857-61, tumultuous years leading up to the Civil War.

. . .

"[Historian James W.] Loewen also said a letter Buchanan wrote to a friend after [his constant companion, Senator William Rufus]King went to France shows the depth of his feeling for King.

'I am now solitary and alone, having no companion in the house with me,' Buchanan wrote. 'I have gone a wooing to several gentlemen, but have not succeeded with any one of them. I feel that it is not good for man to be alone; and should not be astonished to find myself married to some old maid who can nurse me when I am sick provide good dinners for me when I am well, and not expect from me any very ardent or romantic affection.' OMG what's up with this Calvin Coolidge worship. Everywhere I turn its "Calvin Coolidge this, Calvin Coolidge that." He did design some great underwear and pants(I think), and his sister, Rita was a 2 time grammy winner, but a gay or trans icon? I think not!

I think the biggest haters are most likely the ones with twin wardrobes. That Jerry Falwell, you gotta wonder! (He's dead right? He can't sue me or anything can he?) If that is a  TOS violation, know that my head is now sinking in shame. Lip coming out. Bad Moni! Bad Moni!
