Title: Fighting (?) with insurance
Post by: Denise on March 24, 2017, 12:21:06 PM
And now the long battle starts with insurance.

My coverage covers EVERYTHING (after a huge deductible) but I'm hoping to do a bunch in one year.

My current issue is finding the proper ICD-10 codes

They are all listed in wikipedia but I'm having trouble finding the right code for laser hair removal

The closest I've found is Z41.1 or possibly Z41.8 but that's not right.
http://apps.who.int/classifications/icd10/browse/2016/en#/Z41 (http://apps.who.int/classifications/icd10/browse/2016/en#/Z41)

Has anyone gone through insurance and have all the codes necessary?

I'm starting a list that I'll post when it's a little more complete.
So far I have:
F64.0 (Gender Identity Disorder - Transsexualism),
     F64.9 (GID - unspecified),
     F64.8 (Other)
Z41.1 (Other plastic surgery for unacceptable cosmetic appearance - e.g. Breast Implants)

Contact Dr Bowers' office. They have someone in the billing office who can help you with many of the ICD codes. AND they've been contracted with BCBS for a long time; there's actually a Medicare advantage plan that pays for hrs completely, and Bowers(amongst others, maybe?) will accept this plan. I have already had this conversation.

Sorry, typo, 'pays for GRS surgery completely'.
