Title: Binding for Larger Chests
Post by: mr on March 24, 2017, 10:29:45 PM
Hey, you guys. This is my first time using one of these forums, so I hope I'm submitting this correctly. I was wondering if there was any way for guys with larger chests to try open chest binding. I've been researching and noticed a way using a certain tape (maybe called kt tape? I don't remember exactly), but I wasn't sure if it would have the same effect on guys bigger than a b. I would try it myself, but I'd rather not waste 20 dollars on something that won't work, especially when I am in need of a new binder to begin with. I've been using the tri-top chest binder from underworks and it works wonders, as I've used some crazy things to bind with over the past years; however, I am a huge fan of tank-tops and other shirts that expose the binder a lot more than what I am comfortable with. Also, I figure the tape would help me with my dysphoria, as the outline of the tri-top is sometimes visible through my t-shirts. I am open to other suggestions besides tape too or if there was possible another binder out there that might be a little more discrete? I've noticed that it sometimes reminds me of a training bra, but that could be just me. Thanks.

I am new to binding myself but from what I have read they advise against using tape and wraps and instead advise using regular binders created for the purpose of binding.  I would suggest doing some reading up on it. You are suppose to not wear it 24/7 because it is hard on your body.

If it helps a lot of cis guys wear tank tops under shirts all the time. I've used KT tape before for an injury and that stuff sticks pretty intensely and it takes some work to get it off and I'd advise against it because it could end up harming you. If you're wearing a tank top and the trouble is in the straps area I wonder if it's possible to use scissors to trim the straps of the binder to something that works and just sew/fabric glue down the edges so that it keeps it from fraying.

Reviving this thread. 😊

Summer's coming and I too wouldn't mind wearing the occasional tank-style t-shirt.  I'm a D, nearly a DD, and although I usually wear one of my Underworks tri-tops, I'd like to know if anyone that's at least a C has had any luck with these items.

I'm a large B, KT tape managed to make it look like I have a moderate case of gynecomastia (which was sort of okay because I am obese) but it certainly didn't make me look flat in the slightest. It took a hell of a lot of tape too, which is EXPENSIVE to be using so much at once. And in the event you place one piece of tape wrong, you'll most likely have to take all of it off, because with misplacement it can seriously start to hurt.
Taking it off is a chore as well, especially since with larger chests you have to use more tape. You have to use baby oil to loosen it for 20 minutes before taking it off, or else you risk serious blistering and tearing of the skin. I learned that the hard way.

Basically, for anyone above a small B, open-chest binding really isn't an available option. It stinks, but I just resigned to the fact that I'll have to sweat more if it gets hot.

Another word of advice, tank tops over a binder can smooth out lines from the tri-top. As a whole I generally avoid t-shirts unless it's a short trip though, because t-shirts tend to stick to the chest and make it very visible that I'm wearing a binder.

I'm not sure what "KT tape" is, but I've read enough horror stories about tape ripping off skin to want to avoid it altogether.

I just started wearing a wifebeater/boibeater under my t-shirts (I've always been a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy) a couple of months ago, and I like how it smooths out the binder lines.

I might just end up waiting until after top surgery to wear tank tops, unless the products in my previous post work well with us overweight men.

I have a large chest. Type XXL. I need advice for binding. What binders are the best? Or do I just need to wait for chest op?

I struggle to lose some weight, that will make my chest smaller too. I've lost 40 kg but have 25 kg to go.

I used to have a binder before I got Remeron (anti depressant) and doubled my weight in a year. Now I'm trying to get rid of it again. As I said 25 kg to go.

But until then, where to buy binders and what product is best for me? I found T-Kingdom on internet. Is that a safe place to buy binders?

Don't buy from T-kingdom, I've heard terrible things about their products causing more harm to the ribs and skin than most other brands. The best bet in my opinion is either Underworks or gc2b. I prefer gc2b, simply because it's made specifically with trans men in mind and not just cis guys with gynecomastia. It flattens me out much better, too.

Is underworks or gc2b european? Was thinking shipping. It's cheaper and faster from UK than US.

I ordered one from gc2b now. I hope it will be a good experience.

Sorry for the late reply, as I'm sure you know by now gc2b is in the US but seriously, their binders are so worth it!

Yes I saw that. 2-4 weeks shipping to my country. I hope 2.  :)
