Hey guys, the last few sub-Q shots have been pretty painful and I'm thinking about switching placements. I've been doing my right side love-handle area and for some reason can't switch over to my left side. Its like I'm mentally blocked or something.
So today's post shot was/is pretty painful and I was feeling around and I think I've developed a pretty thick scar tissue from just 3+ months of injections. Any suggestions on what the next best place to shoot is? I think its hip/thigh area and stomach?
I've always injected into my thighs, alternating between the two each week, and I've never had any issues with lingering pain.
What are you injecting?
Sub-q means just under the skin. Insulin is given by sub-q injection. The needle is about 1/2 inch in length. Inject anywhere you have open skin and rotate sites with every injection.
If you are injecting testosterone, you should do a deep intramuscular injection. The needle should be 1 to 1 &1/2 inches in length. These need to go into a big muscle, like the thigh or gluteous max. Again, rotate sites as best you can.

This being the Testosterone forum, I'm talking about T. T can and is injected both Inter muscularly and Sub-Q. I'm injecting sub-Q but am trying to see what most other folks do and see if they have had bad experiences with certain areas over others.
I do sub-q in my lower stomach; the area between your belly button and the pubic hair. I alternate between the left and right side, like in the part with the most fat. Though every time I inject on the right side it seems to be more painful with gushing blood, so maybe one side is just easier or has better placement of the vessels underneath.
I've only ever done the thigh method. It's not all that bad and you have a lot of space to work with and can switch between legs to give one a break for a week or two.
So after Wednesdays shot, I've had quite a lot of pain in my rear-side. The last 2 days I've had a suspicious that the needles I picked up with my last subscription may have been too long.
Sure enough, I just checked. The pharmacist gave me 1 1/2 22G and 1 inch 18G. YIKES! No wonder my last 2 shots have hurt so darn much!
Thank fully I just needed 3 sets of needles/syringes to hold me over till my big supply came in. I'm only left with 1 set of the wrong sizes.
Well, maybe I'll switch to a different area for a short while and give my keister a break ;D

These sizes are standard for deep IM injections. The 18G is to draw up the medication from the vial and the 22G is to inject in a large muscle. I have heard of some patients using a 25G needle to inject. However, your Pharmacist should honor your request for any size needle you desire.
Because I have a bit of body fat to work with, I switch it up from my love handles and stomach.
