I've been with the Lion's Club since I was 15. I was the youngest member by far, 40 years younger than all the other members.
I've been with the group, worked my hardest, given life and spirit to the club and learned so much. It's been a task and a life mission for me, putting my time and continued devotion into it.
I got kicked out, on the grounds of my sexual identity.
They didn't even think about anything.
They didn't even try.
Part of me is upset I even wasted time with such close minded freaks. Another part of me is so sad that I can't keep participating in such a noble mission.
It just hurts.
Im so sorry, Kalt. That really bites. People can be so shallow and cold. To reject someone they've known so long based on one aspect of the person they don't agree with, it's really sad.

I've seen in all the charity work I've done that the most charitable organizations tend to be religiously based, making the members and the organizations themselves quite biased, bigoted, and down right evil in some regards. But how can I hate them when they're the ones doing so much good?
This whole ordeal has me in a wreck right now, to the point to where I'm even questioning my sexual identity, even though I know what's going to happen if I decide to try and conform again, I'll just end up right back to square one with another gender therapist, but probably with an even harder transition ahead of me...
I had aspirations to go join the peace corps after college... idk if they'll even take me. Rawr.

I'm sorry Kalt for your bad experience, we have the Lion's Club here and I wonder if it is the same? It is an organization that usually helps the community in some way. They do fundraising, and just recently they helped children from single parent families in the area by giving the kids a day out and Christmas presents. But it is open to both sexes and is not religiously based so probably not entirely alike.
I hope over time, they might reconsider once they have recovered from the shock, you never know. But you are so brave to come out like that to so many, and unfortunately you will get hurt. :(

The lions club is an international charity organization with it's goal to stop all preventable blindness. We send recycled glasses to 3rd world countries, we cured a river of a pollutant that had caused thousands to go blind and would have caused millions more, blah blah blah, great mission great people and it's successful and the most respected organization of its kind internationally.
Maybe you could join Kiwanis.

The only other thing I can do around here still is habitiat for humanity, and Idk how much longer that'll work since I was doing construction work for them mostly.

So sorry to hear about what happened to you. That was really unfair and it is their huge loss. FWIW, our local Lion's Club is composed of some of the most open minded and progressive people I've ever met.

Maybe you should be thankfull having been kicked out. Maybe they were not worthy of you.
If you want to help somebody, try to be nice to the person next to you and above all respect yourself. Because if you don't respect yourself how could you respect the others ? That's much better than building real estate for the already rich.
